The first one we checked in to concerned us, we found the few stains on the mattress that concerned us. That was very uncomfortable to bring up to the front desk. But once we spoke to the front desk, they swiftly moved us into another room. No fuss, no push-back, nothing but courteous hospitality. We checked our room, and it was immaculate. The rooms have this sort of old world charm. Lamps that turn on with two clicks, gorgeous, ornate picture frames, paintings and chairs. Chunky wooden drawers and closets, it's one of those places that has its own style and it's not afraid to show it. For a less than $60 night stay, I've had a very comfortable rest here. There isn't breakfast due to being attached to a 24 restaurant as well as being near multiple eateries. For the price, it's a very comfortable area, gorgeous view, and I think you'll like this place. Give it a shot.

Well, upon entering the hotel, it felt as if I traveled back in time. I adored the atmosphere, but when my family and I began to walk to our rooms, the hallways were very dim. Literally made me feel as if I’m in the scary movie “The Shining.” I shrugged this off, and upon entering our bedroom, it looked very antique. Nothing was renovated, it literally was just -old.- The bathroom, designs, interior, everything. Nothing like the pictures featured. Even the bathroom and sinks were old. But THIS is what got me. The showers are easily clogged. Literally was showering in my own filth. The little hole in the side-backing of the sink literally had toothpaste in it still from the past guest. YUCK. Oh and get this, I looked in the corner next to the bed and HELLO- dried up food? Appears to look like a grape? Disgusting. Lack of cleaning. Overall, I did not feel clean nor comfortable being in this hotel.

This hotel was OK for the price, I personally would probably not stay again. The rooms had very poor lighting, it was very dim and dark you had to turn on every light in the room to get half way decent light. NOTHING about the bed was comfortable, the mattress, the pillows.. even the blankets were awful! The pool area with the slide is fin for the kids. But the pool area is VERY slippery. I fell walking down the pool stairs, and watched two other people slip and fall while I was in there. The rooms were clean and the staff was nice.

We had a great stay at the Grand Hotel. It is a little dated but it gave the hotel character. It was a great central location to visit The Badlands, Custard State Park, The Devils Tower and Mount Rushmore. There is a lot more to do in the area and many beautiful roads to travel in the area. I would recommend a stay at the Grand Hotel.

I could tell the moment I pulled into the parking lot that this wasn’t the place I wanted to stay. When the hotel’s selling point is a 130 foot water slide, attracting every screaming kid within a 300 mile radius. After checking in with awkward staff, I made my way through the musty hallway trying to avoid soaking wet kids sprinting through the hallway. Finally I entered the room which, like the hallway, had a musty aroma, way outdated furnishings, and a mattress that’s age had to be appropriate for the renaissance festival styling. After laying down for 2 minutes I decided to cut my losses and go to a name brand hotel rather than spend my night in an uncomfortable bed listening to kids screaming all night. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
