What in the world is going on outside of this grocery store? You have multiple cars fully parking and leaving right in front of the store like they own the damn place. This is so wrong and frustrating and needs to be addressed. I can tell that most of these people doing this are Uber drivers and Instacart delivery drivers but it is absolutely out of hand now. This is causing so many problems in an already hard parking lot to navigate through. Where is parking enforcement or any basics employee that can do something about this. It is completely out of control now and tickets need to be given so the people who do this are penalized and deterred from doing it over and over again. They all need to learn some respect and common courtesy!!!!
The average grocery store. Lines do get pretty long sometimes. The prices are okay. This is pretty much my go-to supermarket as the No Frills right down the road has closed permanently for a redevelopment project.
Lots of parking in this plaza. Discount supermarket but with Great customer service. The cashier - Sandra was friendly and helpful. Saw her helping an non English speaking senior patiently in the line. She also promoted an on sale produce to us when she saw us buying a regular price one. Good model to the company. Food Basics always offers great deals to their customers. Please keep us the good customer service!
It is sort of affordable grocery store, a less glamorous version of Metro. Since No Frills across the train tracks closed it is the only large store in the area but even before it would get crowded with long line ups for cashiers. A few years ago.most of the cashiers were replaced with self check out which really sucks. The self check out terminals tend to be defective - sometimes you get logged out even before you start scanning and assistant has to come to unlock the terminal. I feel for those assistants - they put up with a lot of attitude as shoppers get pissed at the faulty machines. I might have eye-rolled one of those assistants today - sorry. Another fun part is that the management sometimes plays hide and seek with customers: try to find a shopping basket! It seems that there are only 10 in the entire store and you have to chase one before you can start shopping the best strategy is to wait like a hawk by cashiers until somebody with a basket comes to cash out. On the other hand, shopping carts are everywhere, especially by the exit to the parking and in front of the store - it feels like an obstacle course. It would be great if they can hire more cashiers and somebody who could take care of the carts situation. Go in the morning if you can, especially on the weekends I wouldn't recommend shopping after 10 am.
“I’m giving this place two stars primarily due to the frustrating parking situation. If you’re shopping here without a car, it might be a good choice. However, if you’re driving, be prepared to spend at least 20 minutes hunting for a parking spot. They do have parking in the back, but it’s a minimum 5-minute walk, and you’ll need to carry your groceries by hand to your car. This inconvenience really detracted from the overall experience.”
