Nasty. Truly cannot understand how this place is not getting checked out and shut down.nnTruly exhausted by the state of this place and company. So many items past their expiration date are on the shelves, prices are incorrect once you get to pay of course I mean that prices are higher. No employee ever around, no one cleans, somehow there is always a water bottle shortage. Shopping here is always a pain.nnI wish I could leave multiple reviews instead of keeping on updating mine because this store is just SO NASTY. This time I bought some flat bread and it was clearly eaten by some rodents I of course only noticed it days later as I took it out of the fridge it was in the fridge since the minute I bought it but I swear this place never stops to amaze me. If there even is a manager, will you ever do something about the dirt in here? Sometimes I walk in and it looks like a corpse has been dragged across the entrance. Not to mention the continue laziness of the employees. Gosh I don’t understand how this store passes health inspections to be honest.nnCountless times I just come here to buy water and there’s none, unless I can carry a 15L bottle walking home. I’m not from here but not once in my home country I entered a supermarket to find out it was out of water, but here it happens a few times a week. It just does not make any sense. Not on such a primary item.nnPlease CLEAN!!!nAnd besides the dirt itself that I always see in this place, some customers have zero respect. I always find fresh fish/meat just thrown on a shelf because someone changed their mind. It wouldn’t kill you to just walk back and put it in the fridge. Hope you’ll be the one eating stale food.nnNovember 2023: it’s now been a few weeks it smells like a dead body in all the fridge area to the point that you can’t walk by without gagging and as always nothing is being done about it. Floors are always dirty and the meat section is always stained. Absolutely a s* show.nBe also ready for the majority of dairy and eggs products being always out of stock and the produce section in stale conditions.nnIs there even a manager here?nThere is constantly a huge line because you’re lucky if there is ONE checkout open and while I use the self service one, are you aware we live in the most densely populated areas of Toronto full of families and elderly that might not be able to use the self checkout?nItems are either always out of stock or the lazy workers never bother to restock them. The place has been dirty since I moved here a year ago and prices keep going up even on items that were previously clearly labeled as “price locked down”.nnJune 2023: I’m not kidding if I say that some products are now cheaper at Whole Foods. And you’re getting organic produce instead of this no flavor items. It’s just becoming extremely ridiculous.nnI understand inflation but we are at the point where if the cheapest and worst in terms of quality supermarket has these prices, you might as well pay for quality food at Whole Foods.nItems are barely going on sale anymore. You will instead see orange and red tags popping up everywhere saying “price locked down” or “always great price” while the price itself went up. Don’t mistake those for items on sale.nnI was happy to finally move closer to a cheaper grocery store, especially lately, but after I shopped here for the first time I think this will be a place where I’ll just pick up a few last minute things. Not clean, the packed meat section looked awful and for a place this size the options were very limited, not a lot of choice of products because many of them were actually missing from the shelves, to the point that I was asking myself if the store was about to go out of business. Even if products were in stock they were kept at the back of the shelves, for example big bottles of water were impossible to reach. Half of the fruits and vegetables looked extremely bad. I’ve regularly shopped at other food basics before but this is a whole other story unfortunately.
Always shopping there, I always can find everything I like for great prices.nClementines was yesterday for 2,98$ and other grocery stores coasts 5$ and up.nCheese, yogurts and fruits always has the best price and very tasty.
The staff here have always been friendly and helpful. Except for two days ago when there was only two turkeys left, and some customers were asking for some and when they brought them out, they were surrounding the man and the employee started screaming at them to back up and give him space it really look like he was having some kind of panic attack. I thought that was pretty rude. He continued to swear in the back room. Other than that , it is a cheaper place to buy the things I need. So I will continue shopping there.
First and foremost, the store layout was well-organized and easy to navigate. I appreciated how everything was neatly arranged, making it a breeze to find what I needed. The aisles were spacious, ensuring a comfortable shopping experience, even during peak hours.nThe variety of products available at Food Basics was truly impressive. From fresh produce to pantry essentials and specialty items, they had it all.nI was pleasantly surprised by the affordable prices at Food Basics. They consistently offered great deals and discounts on various items, allowing me to save money without compromising on quality. It's refreshing to see a store that understands the importance of providing affordable options to their customers.
Very small & over crowded. Point of Sale terminals are outdated & have cloudy screens & tapping your debit card is inconsistent with rude cashiers like everything is your fault. Maybe they want you to use self check outs to cut costs. Update your machines so they actually function. Avoid this place. It's not worth the hassle.
