Staff was nice food was good. My husband had the lobster roll and fries. He liked it. I had the fish tacos. I ate one it was good but couldn’t eat the second. I prefer my fish fried with tarter sauce lol but the tacos weren’t bad just trying something new! Had the real ale, great beer.
For reference: I am traveling via a cruiseline and arrived to the restaurant on foot; opinions based off my normal experiences in SC and I cannot provide info on parking I'm surprised that this place doesn't have higher reviews, and some of the 1 star reviews seem unnecessarily harsh. The food was absolutely amazing and a highlight of our day. We got the clam chowder, lobster bisque, chicken tenders buffalo style, meat sandwich kind of like a Philly Cheese Steak, and the blueberry pie. Honestly, this place helped me realize my love for clam chowder and I was told by my father that the lobster bisque was some of the best he'd ever had. My fiancé loved the sandwich I stole a few bites and was impressed as the meat wasn't dry, though, I would've liked a little more cheese or maybe some mayo. The fries were also very good. The best part for my group was the blueberry pie I'm not big into sweets with the blueberry icecream. Pricing was pretty on-par with the area, I think. We had a poor experience with lobster at a different restaurant the previous stop also Maine so we avoided ordering similar food. I will say that my only complaint was the staff, as they weren't necessarily friendly nor unfriendly, just sort of bland. But I suppose you go out to eat for the food, not the staff. The location was perfect, too - right next to the seaport to get back on our ship. Overall, if we visit again we'll definitely go back!
Food not good. Piles of chips covering most of the plate. No seasoning on the fish at all for the fish tacos and they put lettuce at the bottom of the taco under cooked fish which is a no-no for any hot food. That's cooking 101. Haddock sandwich was like a McDonald's fish filet. Calamari was small pieces and greasy. Chowder was good but needed lots of salt and pepper. Disappointed in the food. Manager did discount the check which is why I'm rating a 1+ because this was not worth it. I should have known when it was not crowded and other places were there must be something wrong. Will not be back and don't recommend.
It was my first time to visit at Bar Harbor and your restaurant was the highlight of my day trip. I had a sad experience at the restaurant across from you SLP and walked out, but that is not important anymore, as your restaurant was much more wonderful anyway and made up for the prior heartbreaking experience! I am so happy we moved here to eat! You have great staff, kind and attentive and non discriminating workers, wonderful food and fast service, patient and hard working people. The food is amazing and you all know how to take care of your customers . As a person myself who works in the hospitality field, it was so nice to be treated kindly and asked if we were happy and your staff guaranteed our satisfaction and I saw all other customers and other tables happy. None of you even knew what me and my boyfriend went through at the other place. You all had genuine good people who were attentive and sweet and I thank you all for making an almost sad day become the best day and my best experience at Bar Harbor. When we return, it is you who we will always come back to and I have told everyone of your great atmosphere and service! Like what the great Maya Angelou said: "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
When you can’t have shellfish there are other options. this steak sandwich was delicious. Tagged along with fries that were fresh and crispy . I want it now thinking about it. The view was Phenomenal and nice. Great weather.
Had a great experience here, great food, great atmosphere, right on the water and umbrellas to both sit in the shade or soak in the sun while you eat. Highly recommend their oysters and lobster roll.
The staff was friendly but seemed like they were short staffed. The view of the bay was very pleasant. The food was mostly very good. I did not like " the potatoes " as they were just boiled potatoes with parsley on them. I tried to add butter, and then that failed, hot sauce....it was absolute fail. I would have been pleased with fries. I forgot to take a pic of my seafood stuffed haddock and it was delicious. The steamers were very good!
Lots of sands found in the steamers and mussels dishes. Mussels was stale and dried. Red wine by the glass tasted like vinegar. Beer was more expensive than other comparable restaurants. Location is right on water. Some staff members seemed not happy. The place did not have good vibes.
The location is great, right on the water in Bar Harbor but that’s about the nicest thing we found about the restaurant. From the outset we asked to sit at a certain table and they said that they could not do that. The table we requested was empty for the next 30 minutes. The food was not very good and the portion sizes were quite small for how much you paid. You can definitely find better lobster elsewhere. When we were trying to pay they gave us the wrong check and tried to overcharge us. We are grateful that the manager acknowledged the mistake and charged the correct amount but still this is not great. All of it added up to a less than stellar dining experience.
Amazing host, very good service and tasty food. View is very good also. I don’t know why here are some bad reviews but I really like this place and recommend it for everyone! Prices are very good as well. P.S. Oysters came out so fresh
