Service was average at best, but food was amazing as was the atmosphere. We waited at the door for about 5 minutes before we were acknowledged and placed on the wait. The wait was reasonable at about 30 minutes. Once we were sat it took a few minutes for the server to stop by. From what I could tell they had 2 servers for the entire restaurant, and they handling the hosting also. Food came reasonably quick. The burger was really good, and their waffle fries were amazing. I would suggest avoiding the turkey sandwich. The turkey was incredibly dry and there was not enough garnishment on the sandwich to mask how dry the meat was. Parking: Street parking. Depending on the season and how busy the town is you may not be able to find parking anywhere near this restaurant. Wheelchair accessibility: There are 2 steps to get in the restaurant, and once inside the door it is a very tight space with the host stand. Once you are inside there would be enough room to move a wheel chair around, but getting inside will not be easy.
While the rest of Bar Harbor closes at 9, this place is open late. Food service stops at 9, but people keep on coming in because there bartender is brilliant! He knows all stuff about the town, all while making drinks and welcoming everyone as they walk in. We spent two nights there. Wednesday they have some of the only music around with open mic night. Definitely worth the stop for a night time drink.
My wife had the jambalaya which was supposed to be over rice but I'm pretty sure it was quinoa. It was definitely not what we were expecting and not to her or my appetite. I got the lobster scampi and unfortunately that was not what I was expecting either. There were so many diced peppers, peas, and tomatoes it resembled a vegetable spaghetti. The scampi sauce didn't taste the way I've come to know either. I also had the clam chowder which was good, very soupy rather than thicker. The service was good and I'm not saying the food was bad, just definitely not what we were hoping for / expecting when we ordered... and it was over $100 with tip.
Ordered some rosemary fries, mussels, and a pretzel along with a few cocktails. Everything had high quality ingredients and was delicious. Great selection of craft beer to try, cocktails were interesting, well balanced and well made. Hats off to the bartender! Great place to stop for a drink, don't overlook the food, it is quite good!
One of our favorite lunch places in BH. This time we had the smashburger and the lobster stew. Both were excellent and the fries were yummy. We had wanted to order fish and chips but they only serve them after 4pm. Seems like a staple dish that would be available at lunch.
Our greeting was lukewarm, perhaps expected with a cold wind blowing outside. It was around 5:45, and the winter sky grew dark outside. The hostess reluctantly showed us to our table. On this evening, most of the seats stand empty. Several patrons gathered at the bar for what seemed to be a round of birthday wishes. The drink special are shots of Banana Liquor; $5 each. My wife had taken me out for a special occasion and chose this venue because they had rib-eye steak. She was excited about the change of pace as we looked over our menu. We decided on the "Rib Eye Steak" with Asparagus and Potatoes. We ordered two beers waiting for our order; both were flat and tasted nothing like the description; disgusting. Our meal arrived so quickly, we were amazed! We were both delighted with four tasty stalks of asparagus. Our waitress came by the table, half-heartedly asking if everything was good and if we had everything we needed. I wondered if there were any Tabasco, Mayonnaise, Ketchup, and steak seasoning bottles. She returned with the "House Hot Sauce" and the Ketchup in two small stainless containers, no mayonnaise; they were fresh out. We both ordered our 10ozish steaks "Medium," yet both were Seriously RAW! Flipped over on either side on a hot pan but not cooked throughout the rest of this Meat. I joked that my steak was about to run away. In return, my wife shot me a scowl, the kind she makes when very upset. We discussed returning the MEAT but couldn't raise our now MIA waitress. Kim cut her steak into thin strips to bring home to our dog. She picked up the check, which came to approximately $90. knew no good would come. I begged her not to make a scene as she's sometimes known to do. A coward, I headed to the door and dashed across the street. The front door crashed as she came outside, "The Wind," she said. Likely this has been the worst and most overpriced meal we have had in the last 8,000km. I hope this is only sometimes the case but be assured our meal was this bad. I can only attest to my only experience. I would never eat here again.
Great food with friendly staff. Got the Pulled Pork sandwich with their blueberry BBQ sauce which was very good and unique. Came with a side of waffle fries which were fried to perfection.Food: 5/5
The Finback Alehouse is an excellent place for a night out. Their menu offers an array of delicious options, but the smash burger and waffle fries stand out. The burgers are juicy and flavorsome, with the perfect balance of toppings, while the waffle fries are crispy and the perfect side. The alehouse also boasts a great selection of beers, perfect for anyone looking to try something new. But what truly makes Finback Alehouse a must-visit destination is its live entertainment nights. With top-notch performances, there is never a dull moment, and the atmosphere is truly electric. So, whether you're looking for great food, great drinks, or just a great night out, you can't go wrong with Finback Alehouse.
What a find! First, great service which is hard to find these days. Fish taco appetizer was amazing. We had the brisket cheesesteak sandwich and the fried haddock sandwich. Both were delicious. Don’t forget there Rosemary fries. You won’t leave one on the plate
We sat outside and had the arancini starters, lobster roll with house made chips and blueberry donuts with ice cream. Everything was fantastic! Great local beers and service, too!
