Story

Fairmont Royal York, formerly known as the Royal York Hotel, is a large and historic hotel in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Opened on June 11, 1929, the Royal York was designed by Ross and Macdonald (with Sproatt and Rolph) and built by the Canadian Pacific Railway across the street from Union Station. With 28 floors, the château-style building was the tallest building in Toronto at that time, and the tallest building in the British Empire until the construction of Toronto’s Canadian Bank of Commerce tower on King Street one year later.

The hotel has been the residence of choice for Queen Elizabeth II and other members of The Royal Family when in Toronto. The Queen usually has an entire floor reserved for her and her party, occupying the Royal Suite herself.

Today, the hotel hosts royalty of another kind as an official hotel for the annual Toronto International Film Festival.

Overall we had a great stay here. The lobby is elegant, grand, stunning. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. We used the valet service and they were amazing, super fast to bring our vehicle up and helpful with tips on places to go and the best way to get there. We ordered room service one night and the food was great and fast! The only downfall was the AC was definitely not working in our room. We had it set to the coolest as it was pretty warm when we got there and by the time we got back from our event late that evening it was even hotter in the room. The bathroom was a bit run down but still nice. Overall it was a good stay.
1. The hotel has very good service and location. Its long history and grand feeling makes the stay a very pleasant one.n2. We can easily access it by traveling on the buses, trains, walking as it is linked with the underground malls and stations.n3. The room is nice and comfortable with the bed, tables, chairs, sofas, shower, their own shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, and very importantly a clean washroom.n4. The sleepers and gowns are in the closet so we can change to something to relax.n5. The swimming pool, whirlpool, children pool, and gym are on the H floor. The staff are friendly and it's a good workout over there.n6. The background music can be heard in the lobby but we find sometimes it is too loud in the mornings and nights. Maybe it can have some more relaxing or jazz music choices so different vibes and atmosphere during the day.
My wife and I live in BC , we went out east in the summer to visit family and decided to have a mini honeymoon in Toronto for a few days , we reserved a king suite and could not have had a better experience, the room was beautiful and they upgraded us to a room with a bathtub as requested. When we arrived there was a bottle of champagne on ice and a handwritten letter from management congratulating us .from the moment we arrived we were treated like we were royalty . The room was amazing and clean and I loved the aromatherapy pillows and shower even though I took some ribbing from my wife ! We did the gold experience which was well worth the money , the service was amazing and the food and drink was fantastic. We will definitely be back !
The luxury suite was wonderful. It has two private bathrooms with deep tubs for soaking. The beds were wonderful, and the breakfast buffet was awesome . It had lots of fresh fruit and delicious omelets.nBTW it directly across from the train station. I'll be coming back soon. On the real tip, it is pricey but worth it.
The lobby of this hotel is incredibly grand. It truly feels like you’re in a movie. The live piano at the restaurant is amazing and the library bars ambiance can’t be matched. Additionally, the location makes accessing so many parts of the city, easy and stress-free. My only feedback is that the luxurious feel doesn’t translate into the hotel rooms. The rooms are small with basic decor and bedding. I wouldn’t say it’s anything special. I will add, the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash smell incredible. I wish I could buy it and take it home!nnOverall , it was nice for a quick weekend trip in the city. We enjoyed our stay but it’s not a must at that price. I would recommend looking at alternative boarding options and visiting their restaurant and bar as an excursion.
