I would highly recommend getting the haneeth when you go here. The meat literally falls off the bone and is extremely tender. Rice is perfectly cooked and full of flavour.nnAs for customer service, the staff is super friendly and even brought the food to my car while I waited.nnI can’t recommend Yemen Gate enough.

Having lived in the Middle East for 20 years, I can confidently vouch for Yemen Gate as one of the most authentic Yemeni-style mandi spots in Ottawa. The lamb mandi features exceptionally tender meat that effortlessly falls off the bone, enhanced by juicy fat that adds incredible flavor. The rice is lightly spiced and aromatic, creating a perfect combination. This mandi boasts subtle, balanced flavors, complemented by fried onions and nuts, and is served with a delightful minty tomato sauce. Yemen Gate consistently delivers authentic and satisfying meals, never disappointing.

The arabic seating was very nice but they only have one such seating. We tried their fried fish, which was superb. We also ordered the lamb mandi and lamb haneeth. I would recommend the haneeth over the mandi. The kunafa was also VERY delicious. We had their Adana tea - which was good. The Turkish coffee, however, was the only thing that let us down.

We did not have any reservation and we were just two people yet they let us sit in the majlish that is usually for a large group. The ambience was nice and decorated with traditional yemeni photos. The majlis where you sit on the floor had traditional cushons and carpet. It was so cozy that you could fall asleep after eating.The service was awesome. The food was perfect. We were well informed on the time it would take to have the food ready. Coffee on the house as a welcome beverage. Iman, our host was very welcoming and friendly yet professional. She took our food order sitting down with us. Such a courteous being she is.nWe could write the whole night about the good things here. You need to visit it to experience the Yemen cuisine and hospitality. Thanks to Iman for making us feel special!
