Story

Vivo is more than a recreation centre - we're a charity on a mission. Our 195,000 sq ft facility offers a fitness centre, pool complex, gymnasiums, climbing wall, ice rinks, public library, sports medicine clinic, and café, plus a wide variety of programs and services for all ages and abilities. We’re a community hub where individuals, families, volunteers, athletes, coaches, educators, business and community leaders can meet under one roof. Since 2004, we have welcomed more than 10 million visitors to swim, climb, dance, run, sweat, create, learn and grow into healthier, more active lifestyles. Our holistic approach to health and wellness enables us to build stronger communities in north central Calgary and across the city.

One of the best health centers I’ve experienced. A perfect swimming pool, great saunas, and an impressive range of activities for everyone — from energetic youth to active seniors. Basically, a place where teenagers and grandparents can suffer equally during workouts.nnThe pricing is friendly, the atmosphere welcoming, and there are many small details that show real care. A health center that makes staying fit feel surprisingly enjoyable. Highly recommended.
My experience at Vivo is always positive! The Guest Services team are wonderful and often greet me by name. The instructors for any classes I take are fantastic.nI always get a great workout with V. Each week, we try something new… love learning new exercises.nMartha’s classes are so great! She has such a fun energy and is always happy to have us there.nThanks for the great work and always making me feel welcome!
Went here to use the pool area. Has hot tub that is decently big, pretty good temperature. Facility is clean. Not much space in the family change room. The sauna is super nice, one of the more aesthetically pleasing in my opinion. Has lots of sitting area and relaxing lighting. Only complaint was that there was hair all along the wood on the top sitting area in the sauna.
I used to love vivo, my girls have been going there for many years. My daughter went skating today, we were not informed before I paid that the arena is shared with hockey players. I don't really think that this shared option is safe. Kids playing hockey don't stay all the time on their side and pucks go to the skaters side being a hazard for them. Then a bunch of kids came onto the ice with their shoes running around. I couldn't even stay with my daughter even though I didn't have skating equipment so I had to watch everything from the second floor while others do whatever they want without following the rules because no one is supervising. If you are going to be strict with the entrance for minors parents be strict with everyone not following the rules. A very disappointing experience.
VIVO is the worst indoor basketball court I know. The court is slippery and poorly maintained. Not only that, despite having three full courts, they frequently rent them out to other sports, leaving us unable to use even one half court. I give it the worst possible review; I would not recommend it to anyone and advise against playing basketball there!
