2026.06.13. My first visit. The draw is the limited international film premiere showing of Mistura 2025, a foodie film about a woman whose husband abondoned her for a younger female. She comes to a decision to open up a restaurant in an attempt to save her home from foreclosure and opening up of herself from being trapped in her past, last screening date June 28.nnConcession stand for snacks and drinks including wine. Main theatre VIFF Cinema has state of the art digital projection and sound system with 170 seats, very comfortable seating, patient and helpful staff.nnThere is another smaller theatre Lochmaddy Studio Theatre with 40 seat capacity.nnHandicap accessible restroom on the street level right after the entrance and to the right.nnCall ahead if you like to reserve seats.nnAnnual VIFF membership free for young film viewers ages 19-25; begins CAD 49.

I love this theater a lot. They have many fun events all year round, and recently I came here for the DOXA Documentary Film Festival. Thank you for bringing us wonderful movies all the time!nnThe facility is a little small, but it is cozy and really clean.

VIFF Theatre is Vancouver at its cinematic best. Programming goes far beyond the festival, offering year-round screenings that keep serious cinephiles coming back. The main theatre is comfortable — balcony seats are a pro tip. Smaller theatre? Tiny, but serviceable for niche screenings. Staff are sharp, friendly, and the place is impeccably clean — obviously well-run. Along with The Park, The Rio, and The Cinematheque, VIFF makes Vancouver’s cinema scene truly world-class.

Recently came back to Vancouver after spending 2 years in Asia. Felt a little nostalgic as I was here when this place first opened! There was an indie film that I knew I couldn’t wait until it hit Netflix. Small theatre vibes brings me back to the 90’s. Staff were friendly and attentive. Parking still sucks because it’s downtown but whatever it’s once in a blood moon. Mini theatre makes the screening more intimate. Hope cinemas like this stay around until the end of time. For the sake of 80’s babies…

Attempted to take my family to see an independent cultural movie about our home country at this cinema on our wedding anniversary. Purchased “student” tickets. Was told at the door minors are not allowed. Was also told this was indicated on the website. I scoured the website for at least ten minutes afterward before seeing anything about minors not being permitted. Student and youth tickets are offered all over the website. We were given a refund but it sure sucks to drive downtown for nothing on an important night only to be turned away because of an obscure rule that was not made clear.
