Story

Home to over 60 retail stores, 10 beautiful LED displays, convenient and FREE underground parking, and a food court that can satisfy the most curious of taste buds, International Village Mall also proudly offers one of only two Cineplex theatres in the downtown Vancouver core.

IVM is proof that one can experience global offerings while staying local. This Cineplex theatre is a cool one. I went there to watch the new Superman movie and had a positive experience.nnUnfortunately, there arcade has been downgraded over the years and isn’t like how I remembered when I was a younger kid so that was a bit sad.nnThe seats inside of the movie are very adjustable and they go back a lot but it kind of hurt my back at certain points. But then again, I’m grateful because usually you’d have to upgrade for that specific feature of the seat in the movie.nnCineplex has a good deal on Tuesdays where instead of $20 per person per movie. It’s only 10! So definitely consider going on a Tuesday.
I recently watched a movie at Cineplex Odeon International Village Cinemas in Vancouver. While the audio was clear, the overall sound experience didn't quite deliver the cinematic feel - at times, it felt more like watching a movie at home.nnCompared to other Cineplex locations like Metrotown, the sound lacked depth and impact. The theater is clean and the staff are helpful, but upgrading the audio system could significantly improve the overall experience.
I had a very unpleasant experience at this location. We attended the first showing of this movie, and a short-haired female staff member started yelling across the entire cinema at people for using their phones. She stopped the movie and loudly declared, “I’m not going to start this movie unless seat __ and ___ leave.”nnWho gave you the authority to yell at and threaten customers, delaying the show for almost 20 minutes? If there’s an issue, deal with it before or after the screening—not in the middle of it, disrupting everyone’s experience.nnWhen the movie finally started, the screen quality was poor. My seat neighbors told me they were worried their Apple Watch might be too bright, fearing this staff member would storm in and stop the show again. No one should have to watch a movie with that kind of unnecessary anxiety. Cineplex staff have absolutely no right to make paying customers—who spent $25+ per ticket—feel like they’re in a prison.nnIf you enjoy live concert screenings, I recommend finding another Cineplex, because this location clearly doesn’t value a respectful viewing atmosphere. I will never return here and will strongly advise my friends to avoid it at all costs.
The best of all was that the parking lot was free 2 hours for all people that came to see the movies. The place was really comfortable and really nice and fresh.
Love this place! Low key theatre, uncrowded, with very friendly staff.nnWe’ve been going for years, and the mall has certainly declined and can get a bit liminal at night, but the theatre has stayed the same. Plus they have a little arcade that’s rarely busy air hockey! plus international films. Easy to reach by car or transit, with redeemed parking.nnThere’s a couple of great places for snacks Indonesian peanut tofu! at the food court, a plant stand, and of course a gawk at the catfe!nnSo glad there’s a smaller cinema in Vancouver.
