There is a village and it has value. Or is there value in the village not sure but either way it a store that sells second hand items. There is lots of parking and easy access to the store. My wife and I like looking atnthe used item and have found clothing and household items at times. We live in northeast Edmonton and like the one close to us. Overall we have found that Value Village over time has become overpriced. This is a for profit business that is selling their second hand items that they get for free. The store is clean and well lit.
I found two pairs of boots I liked. One needed a price check I found the staff was told the front could and get there and was priced at $18, and the other boots I had I learn had the wrong sticker. When I got to the till, everything got mixed up, and I felt awful for slowing down the line while two managers stood over my shoulder watching as they figured out what was going on. As someone with a non-neurotypical brain and autistic traits, that was really uncomfortable and overwhelming. The pair I tried on still had clear foot indents from the previous owner, yet they were actually supposed to be priced at $37, much higher than the price I was expecting.nnMost boots were around $40 unless they were already destroyed. I even saw a pair that looked like Doc Martens with the whole sole ripped off still trying to be sold for $28.nnI’m an avid thrifter and upcycler who sews, reuses, and donates often. Value village prices keep going up every year. I hope the staff reflect on how uncomfortable they can make someone feel. Two managers standing over my shoulder was unnecessary, they weren’t even in professional attire, and the whole experience was overwhelming. I know my lack of presence won’t matter to them, but I hope the store can do better. I’m avoiding this store for now but might try again if things improve.
We love thrifting—and this store is a gem!nThey have almost everything I’m looking for, whether it’s dressy, casual, or even work clothes. I especially love their bags section—so many great finds! The book section is also a treat, with fun options for both adults and kids.nnHonestly, I wouldn’t mind spending the whole day here. It’s one of those places where you can always discover something new!
Prices are insane. Like $70 for a photo of minions is actually wild. Get a grip, especially when you receive this stuff for free.
Now, while I occasionally shop at VV because I have lost over 90 lbs. in 6 months and am STILL losing...which required a fast wardrobe replacement...the pricing is atrocious considering the items for sale were all free donations. It's big corporation BS.nI will say the staff are all great. From security to the workers trying to keep up with sorting clothing.
