We had a couple of slightly off conversations with the owner in advance, where she didn't seem to realize that she had called me the second time, or who I was. The day of our visit, my husband got there early, took a nap, left our bags, then met me for dinner. When we returned, she was there and greeted us nicely. By the time we got to the top of the stairs and found our door locked, she was gone. We figured she might have gone to the store, and waited over 2 hours for her return, even went to a neighbor's thinking she might have left a key somewhere. We hunted everywhere for a key of contact #, but the only # we could find there or online was the house phone. She'd been vague about where her room was, so we thought she might just stay somewhere else when she was booked, and weren't sure she'd come back, so we finally left at 10:30pm. Fortunately, we live in Seattle, so by the time we were almost home, she called and apologized, said she in fact was out shopping (there's a big store a few blocks away. This was over 2 hrs later). We had to return the following morning to get our things, including important medication that my husband was late in taking because of this. So the fact that she doesn't give out keys to the individual rooms and they're not on the main door master, is unreachable, claimed a faulty cell phone, and didn't seem to realize what an incredible inconvenience this was is bad management, memory aside. I've delayed this review to cool down and because this is a poignant situation, but it's really time for her to stop taking bookings.

We had a lovely stay here. It was like staying with family. Comfy bed, pleasant room, good breakfast, great hostess. Went to the Lobster Shop for dinner and that was fantastic as well.
