Courtyard by Marriott Tacoma Downtown

It was a quick 2 night stay that went by too fast. Our room was comfortable, clean and quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would love to stay here again.

The hotel staff is fantastic! Everybody is super nice, friendly and helpful. The rooms are super stylish and modern looking. They have plenty of power outlets in good working order. The bed are comfortable enough and the rooms are clean. Street parking is poor, so plan on paying the hotel to park.

I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t expect this property to be as impressive as it was. My expectation was to be put up in a clean and modest hotel but was really surprised once I stepped in. Here’s my 3 “Hits and Misses” for the Tacoma Courtyard Marriott: HITS: 1) Tacoma is very picturesque and this hotel is a beautiful addition to ignite skyline. 2) The building is very well taken care of and really modern. It is clean and bright and the rooms are very spacious. 3) Friendly and helpful staff. MISSES: 1) I hate shower curtains. 2) Parking is offsite and difficult to easily get to. 3) There aren’t enough elevators for the number of rooms. The wait for an elevator can be a few minutes and that’s kind of annoying to me. I would recommend this place for couples or families. Decent pool and hot tub as well.

Pros- - Clean, modern rooms - Netflix on the TV in the room - Comfortable bed - Quiet Cons- - Expensive hotel restaurant - Rigid check-in policies In general, this was a nice hotel to visit. Clean rooms, linens, etc.. It was quiet even though I was close to the elevator. Convenient location, etc.. The issue I had was when checking in and out. When checking in, they asked for a personal credit card for incidentals. This was a work visit for me and I was reluctant to provide that information. The room and parking had already been paid by work. When I contested this and asked if I could place a cash deposit, the representative turned and spoke to her supervisor in Spanish. He reinforced he statements and they said they could not check me in without a credit card on file for incidental items. The funny part is there is only $6 worth of "incidental" items in the room. Two bottles of water. In any case, I eventually agreed to provide my credit card. When checking out I asked for a copy of my receipts. The room receipt and my "incidental" receipt. The incidental receipt showed a $17 charge for valet parking which had already been paid by my work. In the big picture, providing a credit card and having a billing error isn't a big deal. But when you are the Marriott, I expect more.

Great service. Alfredo knows everyone's name... Very impressive. All the staff were great. The food was fine, as I expected in hotels. Bar was good. There was traffic noise but not terrible and earplugs did the trick. Good location.
