Courtyard by Marriott Tacoma Downtown

I am writing this review from a stuck elevator. Yes you read that right. It has been more than an hour and no rescue seems in sight. You would be surprised like me that how this could happen in a Marriott property, but that sums up what I have to say about this place. You have better options for your hard earned money and avoid staying at this place if you can. I would give negative ratings if I can.nnUpdate: I called 911 and fire service came and got me out of the elevator 90 min after. Not cool. Look for better options. There are plenty of other hotels in the neighbourhood.

Quick overnight trip for an event at the Convention center. Clean, spacious room. We utilized the valet parking, which made things so much easier and the added cost was appropriate. The attendant was super helpful with recommendations around the area. Front desk was also welcoming. There was an issue with our toilet but maintenance was quick to provide help. The only negative things are there is no continental breakfast and while there is an onsite restaurant, I found it to be pretty overpriced for what you're getting. Overall great stay and would definitely return!

Rooms are clean and spacious. Normally courtyards have breakfast included but this one didn’t. We had forgotten two expensive jackets in the room - the staff were great, they held it for us to be picked up later in the week and they were safely returned. Thanks!

Convenient location, right across from the convention center. Room is comfortable and clean. Customer service staff is noticably subpar at this Marriott compare to most other Marriott hotels I have stayed at. I purchased the breakfast package with the room reservation, not knowing that they use a voucher system to redeem limited choice menu at the Cafe. At check-in, they didn't explain the breakfast voucher and did not give me the vouchers. The next morning I went to the Cafe, ordered food and put the charge on the room bill. The second morning my check out day, I saw that my previous day breakfast charges were added to the hotel bill, meaning the breakfast package did not cover any cost of the breakfast food. So I asked the front desk and came to find out about the vouchers. They gave me the voucher for that morning but refused to compensate for the mistake at check-in for missing the previous morning's voucher. Just be aware that if you purchase the breakfast package, be sure to ask for the vouchers at check-in. At other hotel chains if they make this type of mistake, they will at least offer to compensate you with reward points, not here.

This place is not horrible, just not worth the money at all. Very dated. No USB ports so be sure to have a charger. $20 a day for parking but no spots available in garage so I guess I'm paying twice for parking. That ticks me off.nnRooms are pretty small and fairly clean but again, old and needs updated to the 2000's.
