Classic pub food, large portions, funky chill atmosphere. Great selection of drinks and beers. Fish and chips were delicious - huge pieces, lightly breaded, homemade fries! Also had lamb soup - excellent flavours. They had some classic games available, which we enjoyed. Recommend!
The Bent Mast has really cool curb appeal, plus the ghost stories to lure you in. We visited this past Friday evening. I was excited to visit this restaurant while in Victoria but sadly disappointed. Upon walking in, the inside reeked of urine. I can't believe more people don't address this in the reviews! The smell was absolutely horrible. We sat down hoping an area would be less smelly or I'd get use to it after awhile but it was nauseating and so we asked the waitress to move outside after ordering food but she seemed irritated by the question and confused when I brought up a bad smell. The outside tables had no chairs put out so we had to get our own and dry them with our own clothing. No one helped or seated us. We sat down and waited for our food to be brought out. The food came out in reasonable time. The pecans in my salad were burnt. Otherwise the food was okay. No one during our whole meal came to ask us how things tasted or if we needed anything else food or drink wise. We sat with our finished plates and no one came to collect them or bring the bill. My partner finally had to go inside to chase down someone to pay. I could see how this place would be appealing for drinks or an outside brunch, but otherwise I would not recommend...
friendly pub with some interesting local fare. we had the curried poutine and a couple cocktails. the server was really nice and it made me feel like i was in scotland. it’s cozy inside with lots of grey-haired folks, but it’s also pretty laid back.
Finally had lunch at The Bent Mast...Friendly staff and home-cooked food. I had the chowder and lamb burger. Very good lamb locally produced. Tasted the poutine..yummy and not sqalty, just how I like it. If you like spicy, try the crispy cauliflower...have water near by. All I'll a great atmosphere and pub style food.
Check out this “breakfast sandwich “.. no disrespect, it was honestly the worst piece of food I’ve ever been served anywhere. I can’t imagine the person who thought it would be okay to send this out lol. Those are also all of the “fries” it came with, they had no salt and tasted like pure starch. Dunno how you mess up home fries. I’d recommend the bent mast invest in some sort of sauce, mayonnaise, anything. Especially if your signature is burnt eggs and fried cheese. Beyond that, the service is pretty slow, not friendly and not accommodating, and the inside of the restaurant smells awful, like legit an old litter box. Not sure if it’s the old building or the bad food.. I do feel bad about the state of this place and hope they get a new owner in quick, the neighborhood definitely deserves it and I’d be happy to help with management advice or IT systems. Anyway probably a great place to have a beer, it’s a decent patio. Skip the food though.
If you are looking for home cooked style food, look no further. Best cuisines and friendly staff and quick service. Highly recommended for quality time and great food.
We had dinner there last night. The staff were a 5/5. Very helpful and attentive. The food was 5/5. The kitchen staff know what there doing. The flavours of the burgers were spot on and the portions were the right size for us. The prices were 5/5. We fund them very comparable to other places back home. Thank you for a very enjoyable dinner, we will be back.
Best place ever for fish and chips! even tho I had the chowder it was incredible. I saw the other people eating and their reactions. Will be back
Tasty food! The corriander chicken soup was great but the side with my veggie burger which was delicious was only a half order and I really regret not getting a full bowl because I finished it in 3 spoonfuls!! Will have to try to recreate it at home until next time if the stars align and I can get it again. Their patio is also dog friendly and very cozy in the evening. I'll have to take my SO here when we visit Victoria in the future. It's an awesome little spot.
For the first and only place we went to when stopping in Victoria, this was a perfect pick. Staff were very nice. Prices fair, food tasty. The curry poutine fries thing had the whole drunk table very happy. If I ever go back, I'll make a stop.
