Everything I ordered was NYC quality, no kidding. Hole-in-the wall…don’t let it fool you. They make & bake so many things in-house it just puts their food over the top. Calamari & Caesar salad were awesome. Oysters were super fresh. Prices were quite reasonable compared to the tourist places downtown. Go here you will not be disappointed!

I absolutely love Heron Rock! Best Chicken and Waffles Eggs Benny in town. Tucked away in James Bay with a warm friendly atmosphere and the loveliest staff, definitely worth a visit! I would highly suggest brunch, they serve all week until 3pm. Chefs Choice Triple Benny is a great way to explore the menu or for people who can't decide and like a surprise. The chef will make you three different Benny's of their choosing and it's been super yummy every time! If you're feeling like a Cesar or Mimosa, Heron Rock has a fantastic list of all kinds of Cesar's to try as well as their "Manmosa".

Heron Rock Bistro is a really great place to dine in and enjoy a meal. My wife and I visited from the Edmonton area and we were very glad that we found this place. If you are not familiar with a certain menu item, it may come as a surprise, so make sure you know what you are ordering first. I had the reuben sandwich with a house salad, which was spectacular! The dinning experience was nice and the staff are accommodating. Thank you Heron Rock Bistro staff for the wonderful experience: We hope to visit again one day in the near future.

What a lovely place with fantastic staff and great & tasty food. I had the freshly cooked mussels, they were amazing, afterwards the warm Reuben sandwich which I also enjoyed. The bread pudding was delicious.

After a long absence, it was wonderful to come back to the Heron! The place is even better than before, and the staff are upbeat, knowledgeable friendly and enhance the dining experience. The kitchen continues to shine with tasteful innovative creations and the whole atmosphere is genial, comfortable, and inviting.!

Awesome experience. I started with 1/2 dozen oysters and hubby had clam chowder. The starters were just as great as our steak dinners. Our server Jay rocked it. Definitely coming back. Returning will consist of a Sunday Prime Rib dinner, one day. We've been in Victoria for a few months and seldom dined out but loved this place.

Highly recommend...I had their fried chicken burger which was great. Crispy on the outside, still tender and moist inside, not oily. I think the picture of a nearly empty plate too full to finish the fries tells you what you really need to know. Service was friendly and helpful.

We ate here 2 days in a row! It was convenient located in the heart of James Bay. Atmosphere was wonderful, menu items were plentiful and food was over the top! Live music twice a week people! Great little place to visit and will now be our go to place for eats!!!Food: 5/5

Visited because of the high rating. Food was okay.my breakfast was good but the calamari wasn't fresh.

Three of us stopped here for a late lunch on Saturday Jan 14. It wasn’t too busy as we missed the lunch crowd. We enjoyed a lamb burger, a bowl of seafood chowder w/bread and the grilled Reuben. We all enjoyed our meals. The staff were very attentive and our drinks arrived in a reasonable time, as did our food. This is a nice place to eat when in James Bay in Victoria. Very nice laid back atmosphere. Based on our experience I can recommend it.
