We used to go here every week from 2007-2013. It was excellent. Easily the cheapest sushi in all of Burnaby. The party tray A, B, C and D we're the most popular options. Their sashimi were fresh and cold. Fast forward a few years, and they changed ownerships a few times. It's not as good as it used to be, but it's still decent. All the party combos are now gone, but the sashimi is still fresh and the food is still relatively cheap. It's just not the legendary Sushi Town we locals grew up with.
Great and consistent sushi in Burnaby. We always get take out from here and today we dined in. Staff are friendly and the restaurant had plenty of seating for the 8 of us in our group.
I have been eating here for more than 4 years, good food and service. Then recently they went online for takeout orders and you had a hard time calling the restaurant to place an order, food was still good. But today the service was horrible. I tried calling to place an order around 3pm for a 630pm pickup but no one answered so I placed an order online. I went to the restaurant to pickup and there is a closed sign. Why would you accept orders online if the restaurant is closed? Going forward if I can't place an order over the phone with them I will take my business elsewhere.
We ordered 12 pieces of nigiri which are almost $4 a piece and they made it with either leftover rice or not fully cooked rice. The nigiri rice are dry and almost hard to chew on. Very disappointing!
We’ve had both dine in and ordered take out. Would say the sushi is decent and they have a pretty good selection for rolls. Not as fresh as expected for being in Vancouver, but still good. Take out isn’t the best but it’s expected with it sitting for a bit during transportation.
I had sushi town many times before when I went to Vancouver. It's still yummy in my memory.Food: 5/5
‼2022 UPDATE: no longer worth it quality gone down, price went up more, portions reduced. Go to Sushi Giwa instead if you're in the area! ____ Before Covid pandemic review: I've been a regular customer here since 2013. The quality has improved over the years, however prices also have gone up quite a bit. Especially for the sashimi dishes... from $9.95 for 8pcs of salmon to now something like $13.95 The service here is never the greatest, but it's the amazing sushi and sashimi at affordable prices that always brings me back. It's a staple sushi restaurant among my friends and so much better than Sushi Garden. Definately a neighbourhood favourite! Update: visited again today, and noticed the new menu updates with photos of their popular choices. I added photos of the iyhopefully they they get approved.
Specifically asked for no fish roe due to food allergy, and still have fish roe in the sushi roll. I doubled checked the menu description that scallop roll don’t have fish roe. Even if it does, the kitchen or staff could have contact me about it. The other rolls I ordered which originally have fish roe on top, all dont have roe on it, this means the kitchen should have received my message.
The Sushi is very good.. And probably explains why there are 5 locations in the lower mainland. The prices are reasonable for the quality you're getting. Parking is the bigger challenge on Hastings but it isn't that bad ever. Of all the sushi towns in Vancouver this one is need of the biggest update. Kid-friendliness: It's kid friendly as any sushi restaurant can be. They are very fast in making their sushi generally except maybe at lunch When they are very very busy. Parking: There's rarely any spots in front of the restaurant because there's 4 restaurant side by side. I would recommend parking around the corner since there's lots of residential parking.
Used to be my favorite. Now the prices have skyrocketed. $19 for a spicy tuna sashimi is obsurd. Time to find a new sushi house. Gave 3 stars because they are still wicked fast and consistent with their product.
