Shen Sushi

Took my wife here for our first experience since this is a relatively new sushi restaurant in this neighborhood. The dishes were delicious. Highly recommend the salmon toro sashimi. Their prawn tempura was one of the best I have ever eaten. Great custom service and PR. They made a mistake in one of our orders, but they rectified it by giving us what we actually ordered and gave us the “mistake” order for free. Also, I accidentally dropped my chopsticks, and the waitress immediately gave me a new pair without me asking. Definitely a plus. Overall, it was a great experience. We will definitely return to try their other dishes. Oh yeah…check out the photos.

Decided to try this place for lunch and it was very disappointing. The service was terrible despite there only being one other group in the restaurant. We weren't offered water or tea even after our order had been taken and we had to wave down the waitress and ask her if we could get tea. Me and my boyfriend ordered the rainbow sashimi to share and that was the first thing to arrive but we didn't even have plates. It took us 15 minutes until we were able to get the attention of one of the waitresses just to ask for plates. The sashimi itself did not taste fresh, not sure if it was just thawed out or if it was because it was sitting on a bed of ice. We also ordered two of the special rolls which were okay at first but after the first couple pieces I felt like they were overly drenched in sauce making them very soggy and very heavy on the rice. Was not impressed, would probably not come again.

I ordered the Spicy Roll Combo for take out. Staff was very friendly. The dynamite roll was smaller than what I'm used to at other places, but the tempura shrimp was really nice a crispy! The two spicy rolls were surorisingly quite spicy, and I couldn't really taste the different between the salmon and tuna as both were chopped up very small and saturated in spicy flavor. Still good, but next time I think I'd order more variety.

My first time at this sushi restaurant in the Heights and won’t be my last. Cozy space, friendly service, fantastic meal. There is a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages which are not on the menu but are posted on the wall near the fridges. I ordered the dinner special which was delicious and had generous portions. Great addition to the neighbourhood.

Nice place with a kind staff. We had selected large variety of the menu, including Miami rolls which I loved, and we were not disappointed a bit considering the price. 5/5 experience

The owner and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. There was a small misunderstanding with the order but it was not a big deal. However, the owner was going above and beyond to ensure we were compensated for the little extra time waiting which was a very nice gesture. Pricing is good for the quality of food. Highlights were fresh sashimi platter, shrimp seared press sushi, Grouse Mountain Roll and vegetable tempura. We were happy with the experience at this restaurant.

Had the same experience as some of the other reviews where the we weren’t offered any tea or water had to ask for it and the sashimi we ordered was very cold and felt like it hadn’t properly thawed out. Other than to bring us our food, the waitress was nowhere to be seen and this restaurant is very small. The rice felt hard and undercooked and had too much vinegar. Prices were decent for the portions but will likely not be back.

Such a pleasant surprise! With so many Japanese restaurants in the area I didn’t expect one to blow my mind but it has. The sushi is delicious and they have such unique dishes. Really wonderful flavors. I’ve come here at least 5 times now and they have all been amazing experiences!

I love supporting local businesses , this one is a family business so it is even better. The yakisoba and sushi were great, music is quiet and relaxing, the place is super clean. The only thing that bothered me is that the waitresses , which are the young daughters of the owners I believe, even though were very nice, do not have that customer service skills which are required for this job. We ended up waiting for long periods of time for service. Other than that, we enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back again soon.
