I’ve generally had positive experiences at this Home Hardware location—particularly thanks to the helpfulness of Sharon and another gentleman who supports the customer service desk. Unfortunately, today was a very different experience.nnI came in to return an item I had purchased online and picked up at the Smiths Falls store. Home Hardware's website clearly states that online orders, regardless of whether they’re shipped or picked up in-store, can be returned to any Home Hardware location:nn“Online purchases include both online orders that are picked up at a Home Hardware store and those that are directly shipped to you. Both types of online purchases can be returned to any Home Hardware store.”nnWhen I tried to return my item, the cashier at the front, Alison, refused—insisting that because I purchased it from another store, she couldn’t accept it. When I asked for clarification, her response quickly became combative. I calmly asked why she was speaking to me so harshly when I was simply trying to understand the return policy, but she only became more visibly frustrated and raised her voice further. I eventually asked to speak with a manager, and Alison stormed off—saying she shouldn't have to repeat herself four times.nnThankfully, Sharon came to the front, listened respectfully to my concerns, and processed the return without issue.nnAs I left, I informed Alison that I was able to process the return. In response, she gave me the middle finger and walked away.nnI understand that retail can be stressful, but no customer should be treated this way—especially when simply asking for clarification on a policy that is clearly posted on the company’s website. I hope this is addressed appropriately so that no one else has to go through a similar experience.

I've always tried to give my business to local ownership, but after been here 3x the past few months I will not be coming back. I've been frustrated each time because of sale items not in stock, plastic tubing not available cut to size and I needed 2 keys to be cut, but not available. Sadly, had to drive down the street to a bigger box store to get items filled. Nice staff, but limited stocked items.

Extremely poor service — won’t go back. We have gone in a few times as we recently moved to the area and each time we were treated horribly. We want to buy Canadian but not at this store.

Superior service - we bought a gorgeous vanity made by Stonewood from Barrie, Ontario.
