**Disappointing Experience at St. Laurent Complex pick-up Basketball**nnI cannot believe the city would endorse an environment that promotes hard fouls, injuries and selfishness in pick-up basketball. I traveled 30 minutes to the St. Laurent Complex, only to leave utterly disheartened.nnThe format is flawed: full court, 4 vs. 4, with 8-minute timed games among 5 teams. If you lose, you sit out for 24 to 30 minutes. This extended downtime is detrimental; staying cold for so long not only affects your performance but also increases the risk of injury when you finally re-enter the game.nnThe aggressive atmosphere created by this setup leads players to resort to hard fouls and playing alone. Everyone is desperate to avoid losing, and this desperation translates into reckless play. I played just one game after waiting for 30 minutes, and when I finally got in, I felt completely sidelined. The one time I did touch the ball, I was fouled so hard that my arm went numb.nnTo make matters worse, there's no officiating, which results in constant arguments among players. The staff member present seemed more interested in chatting than ensuring a fair game or addressing the chaos. It’s disheartening to see the city of Ottawa seemingly prioritize profits over the safety and enjoyment of its residents.nnThis is not basketball; it’s a recipe for injuries and frustration. I expected much more from a city-run facility.
Beautiful complex and pool. Super friendly. But it's warm , and misty the water in the pool is absolutely way too warm.nnPlease fix the showers so we can all have warm water. None of the stalls has warm warner including for handicap nnFix the broken curtains .nnPlease adjust .
I'm from Vancouver and on this trip to Ottawa I thought I would check out a local swimming pool/rec center. The heat here in Ottawa with the 70% humidity was brutal. So I checked out the Don Gamble rec center only 6 minutes away from where I was staying. Surprisingly, the pool only had 4 people in it. Public swim times, on a Monday, are from 3pm to 4:30pm. It's a small pool but refreshing nonetheless. I swam and kept cool for a good hour. The change areas are old and could do with some upgrades. I liked that there weren't many people in the water. It was quiet and mellow.
My Sister enjoys the Swimming Lessons with my 1 year old Nephew a great Program and My Dad And I did public swim and my Mom and I did the Aqua fit Program. My Mom dad and I are from Edmonton while my sister is back in our old hometown of Ottawa. All was a fun Experience and the Aqua fit program was very fun and good and the man Instructor was very good. Both deep and Shallow Together it’s your choice. Change rooms are a little old but ok but cared for. The libary is fun there too.
We went as a family and used the family changeroom which was VERY hot and smelled very STRONGLY of urine in the bathroom and changerooms. I am pregnant and was very nauseated. There was no ventilation we were all very hot having to leave out into the hall for AC.nNOT THE BEST EXPERIENCE.
