Sobeys - Strathcona Square

I first shopped here many years ago when I worked in the area. At the time, this Sobeys carried fresh-squeezed orange juice that you can watch them juice in front of you. As well, they had an awesome prime rib deal. I bought that meal set so many times after work.nnFast-forward to these days, both unique items are no longer available. I miss the prime rib roast meal set the most of all. I guess it isn't as popular as hoped. It's still on the menu board/tv screen, but I have never seen an actual prime rib roast in the carving station.nnThe store is awesome and a great location for the neighborhood. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The addition of the fresh herbs grown on site is excellent. The birthday cake selection looks fantastic. If you're in the mood, the frozen oysters are a delectable option not seen at other nearby groceries.nnGreat store to pop in for your weekly groceries.

It was a great experience at this location Sobeys! The store was not huge but it was very clean and organized! Most importantly, it has everything you need daily with an excellent customer service! I had an urgent order for a birthday cake, and the lady sorry I forgot to get her name from Bakery prioritized it and made one from scratch within 20 mins! Thank you! Will definitely come back and highly recommended!

Wonderful store! It has many high quality items with an interesting floor plan. Prices are somewhat higher than I see elsewhere, but the service and food quality has been excellent!nnWe generally shopped at this location until they moved the recycling bins out of the store parking lot. I seldom shop here now.

The other day I took a nice bowl of teriyaki shrimp with rice form sushi station and it was good so as I work near I thought to come and get some todaynI came at 10.50 am but the station as it says works from 11am to 2 pm , so ok I’m waiting no problemnIt’s 11 . 05 no one coming, I saw a woman right at that station but she was busy doing somethingnSo another woman from costumer service walks by and asks me if I’m waiting for sushi woman I said yesnSo that busy one answers oh she went on lunch and will be back in an hour.n???nWhat?nLike why you put operating hours if you go on lunch when you just opennAnd she suggested me to choose ready food down there but actually that’s not what I really wanted but ok fine no problem I’ll take some of that I took the bowl with rice and salmonnAnd that’s what I got instead some kind of hard sticky ricenLike how many days is this rice ? I throw most of it awaynVery upset about costumer service and organization and food

Back when this store was an IGA, it was great. Since then, the bakery has gone way downhill. The produce tends to be garbage and goes bad with a day or two. Other than produce, everything is adequate; nothing is remarkable.
