I recently had the opportunity to visit the Real Canadian Superstore on 6th Street in downtown Calgary, and I must say, my experience was a mix of positive and negative aspects.nnFirst and foremost, the store itself is quite impressive. The architecture is modern and striking, which immediately caught my attention as I approached the building. It's clear that a lot of thought went into the design, making it a visually appealing location to shop. Once inside, I found the store to be exceptionally clean and well-maintained. The aisles were orderly, products were neatly arranged, and the overall environment felt fresh and welcoming. This level of cleanliness is certainly commendable and made navigating the store a pleasant experience.nnHowever, there were a couple of significant downsides that I feel compelled to mention. The most notable issue was the staff. Unfortunately, the employees I interacted with were not helpful. When I sought assistance, I was met with indifference and a lack of engagement, which was disappointing. Customer service is a crucial aspect of any shopping experience, and the unhelpful attitude of the staff detracted from my overall impression of the store.nnAnother concern was the area outside the store. There were a lot of junkies around, which made the surroundings feel somewhat unsafe. While this is not directly under the store's control, it does affect the overall experience of visiting the location. As someone who values a secure and pleasant shopping environment, this was a significant drawback for me.nnRegarding parking, I cannot provide any information as I visited the store on my scooter and did not need to use the parking facilities. However, based on my observation, the store seems to have ample parking space, which is a positive note for those who drive.nnIn summary, while the Real Canadian Superstore on 6th Street in downtown Calgary has many positive attributes, including its impressive architecture and high level of cleanliness, the unhelpful staff and the presence of junkies outside the store negatively impacted my experience. These factors are the main reasons why I can only give this store a 3-star rating. If the store can address the issues with customer service and improve the safety around the premises, it has the potential to provide a much better shopping experience.
This is a really good superstore near city hall station. It’s central and easy to get to. It’s not as big as other superstores but I still find it better than Safeways around downtown.nnI usually get okra from here that is much cheaper than Safeway one.
I really enjoy the location. The underground parking is a plus, though I haven't seen a security guard yet; fortunately, I haven't had any issues. There are a lot of sketchy individuals around, and while there are usually a few security guards, they often seem more focused on their phones than monitoring the situation. Customer service is lacking overall, but I recently met one exceptional cashier who stands out as genuinely kind and attentive.nnIn the store, staff generally don’t offer assistance, and many customers are overlooked. The produce department seems to do the bare minimum, with fruits and vegetables often lacking freshness. Discounts have decreased from fifty percent to thirty on items that are nearing their expiration date.nnIt's a shame, because this location has great potential. I wish the level of customer service was more consistent; aside from that one amazing cashier, most employees appear disengaged and unwelcoming. It feels like customers are an afterthought. While not every business in Calgary is lacking, the trend in customer service often seems to be about taking your money and moving on, which is disappointing.
The staff in the underground parking are running a grift, I register my vehicle in the store and I have been given two tickets. I talk to customer service and they don't give a shit. This will remain 1 star until this issue is fixed. See my receipts. Someone should do their job half decently. I still have nightmares from the time I tried to use the washroom for a whiz , good lord , how does that come out of a human!! Like how!!? If it's not an unhoused mentally unstable person fighting you over your own loaded cart, It's the resident evil like fire alarm going off every 10 minutes, I've also had to stop my shopping because the fire department had to shut down the store at least 3 times the last 2 years, Also one more person stop me to check my receipt after I used the cashier to pay for the inflated groceries is risking instant assault, I'm going over to the NE going forward, This place is a just a pig in lipstick.
I would like to give a shout out to the two gentlemen working on the grocery floor as SECURITY today. In less than 5 minutes that I happen to notice them as I was waiting around after both my flu and COVID shot in the Pharmacy, today, Oct 19 at 1:15pm these two officers intercepted two different women who appeared to be homeless shoplifting items, stopped them, retrieved the stolen merchandise and escorted them out. One of the women in the elevator even had the nerve to brag to one of the officers that she regularly steals from this store to which he firmly but professionally told her that she is trespassed from the store and will be arrested. These two officers work very hard to prevent this type of theft which unfortunately drives up the cost of everything for honest paying customers. I also applaud the use of the body-worn cameras where this appears to be an ongoing problem. Please let these officers know that their efforts are appreciated and I told them that I wanted to offer my sincere appreciation and respect for the job they do.
