9/1/2022 Tried to cancel the alarm service that my mother has had and been paying since 2013. Told them 1. She no longer needs the service is not living at home any more 89 years oldand 2. The service also no longer works due to system being old and not working with ATT anymore.Was told that system needed to be upgraded was Was passed to the accounts department and told that the contact auto renewed for 18 months and that we could not cancel with out paying close to $900.00. They are taking advantage of senior citizens and long term customers.
Worst experience I have ever had with customer service and with a company!! DO NOT BUY THEIR SERVICES!!! the equipment sucks. It’s lags it’s slow nothing but problems and worst part is THEY WILL NOT LET YOU CANCEL!!! you call customer care let them know you want to cancel and then they ghost you!! They say they can’t help you that only the sales rep can! Well the sales rep will not answer my calls or my messages! I’ve been trying for over a week to cancel and they simply will not let me!! I have spoken to several managers and they just give me the run around!! I am so tired of dealing with this! All I want is to cancel my service and move on but they will not cancel the acct or come pick up their equipment yet had the audacity to threaten me that if I had my new alarm company remove the equipment or myself I will be responsible for the full price. WORST COMPANY EVER
I don’t want to give one star but can’t hit submit without giving something. We’ve had service with this HORRIBLE company for over six years. We have had issue after issue with them. Constantly being interrupted with false alarms all hours of the day and night. A couple of months ago after repeated calls to customer service we were told our equipment was outdated and needs upgrading. After repeated inquiries with the representative we were assured that there was no new signing of contract and we could cancel at any time. Fast forward to now because we’re moving and called in to have services stopped. Low and behold more problems. Now we have this new contract that ends in 2027…i know five years…WTF! How’s a charge of over $3000 a real cost for early termination of contract. Of course I asked to have that call tape reviewed and was told their calls are not recorded. I’m going to call the attorney general’s office and whoever else I can to stop this company from continually robbing me. DO NOT UTILIZE THIS COMPANY…they will bend you over without grease literally.
Me, too - IF I COULD GIVE A ZERO I WOULD. My equipment failed, it took months to get replaced, even though I signed a new contract. Their subcontractor didn't show once and left the other time left a number for me to call with no voicemail setup. I called Northstar multiple times, and after 3 months got equipment. They 2 different people! PROMISED me a refund for the services I did not receive yet and I'm still waiting for them to sort it our a month later. do yourself a favor and choose another company. I'm stuck with a contract. You may still have time to make another choice!
Worst company and service I’ve ever experienced!!! I signed a 5 yr contract, I called to cancel and they told me I can’t for another 18 months, so 6.5 years total and then the rep actually laughed at me and said I need to learn how to read. All the other reviews are true, they are absolute crooks, they won’t let you cancel, they just keep taking money out of your account, plus the system hasn’t worked for the last 4 years or more. PLEASE DO NOT use this company!!!!!!
If I could give zero stars I would. Our equipment dosnt work right the app never catches things it’s delayed. We have been with them over 5 yrs they renewed our contract without our Permission. Called and spoke with tech support multiple times to be told every thing is fine. I was told to update my panel but that would mean awhole other contract I don’t want a new contract I’m already paying for equipment that isn’t working why would I want to sign up again. I want out of it and will never recommend someone to use this company
If I could give no stars I would. Worst alarm company ever dealt with. Contract ended and cannot get them to cancel this useless service! All they do is try and take money to do nothing! Moved from where I originally havd alarm tried to disconnect but couldn't since they were trying to force us to renew in order to move service. They keep automatically renewing a contract that ended customer service is NO HELP either. They don't try to help you resolve anything all they do is try to scam you, they should be out of business but they won't since they're scamming so many people!!!
WARNING!! GO READ THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU COMPLAINTS!! Also, read actual reviews such as TrustPilot because the Google reviews are they have are not accurate. IThese reviews are not an accurate depiction of this sheisty company. Most notable: They will tell you everything you want to hear, but don't take their word for it because its lies. The cameras and equipment constantly fail. The techs are unskilled and drilled holes in my wall and placed the electrical hookups in the wrong location that was not the agreed upon location and it was mind baffling as to the poor work quality. When I called to have it fixed, the service manager was absolutely rude, unapologetic, and unwilling to help. To top it off, I told him at that time we wanted to cancel when our contract was up and guess what...it autorenewal and they did not cancel it. Now I am contending paying a monthly fee for something we haven't used in the last 3 years! And NOW they are saying we are stuck until May of 2025. This is beyond disgusting business practices and if you read real reviews, you will run away from this sham of a company. I have put in several ticket requests and I get the confirmation it was sent in, but I never get a response. I did a test and sent one that was stating I needed help with an upgrade and they got right back to me! My previous ones were never responded to and they were asking if when my contract was up. The last one has been over 9 days since my inquiry. They say to connect through the "chat" but it will have you wait then kick you out. If you leave a message they don't call you back. When I spoke to the "customer service" person today, she litterally told me "good luck getting out of the auto renew because you signed a contract years ago so it's on you and though manager will get back to you, they won't do anything". Those were her actual words. This company is a scam and if your system doesn't work you are stuck. Even when you try to cancel within your rights, they ignore you and auto renew you. Bad business. Bad customer service. Bad equipment. This company has a gross lack of integrity.
BEWARE OF SIGNING AN AGREEMENT WITH NORTHSTAR. You will not be able to cancel, they make it very difficult to do so. Your contract will be auto-renewed for the original terms. We also had our renters sign up, after a year the house was sold and we had to continue paying for the service, which also auto renewed and was told we could not cancel, but we could buy out the rest of the contract. The cameras are supposed to be able to voice communicate, they never worked, only static comes through. The skybell stopped working after 6 months, each time I called tech support they were unable to fix it and would charge me to send a new one out. We saw all the reviews and people reporting this company to the Better Business Bureau. We unfortunately are paying for a service that does not work, and again were told we can buy out the contract for the reaming 2 years. The representative that helped us stated he was the highest-level supervisor, and could only upgrade our cameras to fix the broken ones. We agreed as we are bound to the contract, however, they also tacked on another year to the contract. Either way, this company is going to get your money. After waiting for a tech to come to install the newest version of cameras, I was told that they only brought outdoor cameras and the original cameras including 4 indoor, were not on the addendum, so if the outdoors were installed then the indoor would no longer work. Was told to again call and remind them that we had indoor cameras, you must talk to the person that created the order, and no one else can help. STILL PAYING ON A BROKEN SYSTEM EACH MONTH AND NO NEW CAMERAS AND AN ADDITIONAL YEAR ON MY CONTRACT. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED- DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY.
I will say that the tech are great. However you better note and keep track of what you are signing up for. Contracts are LONG and extremely difficult to cancel. They tell you that your contract is set to expire on a certain date then do not mention it is AUTO RENEW for another 18 months. but it's on the contract you signed 5 years ago. If you do not provide your cancelation at least 60 days in advance in writing.. You are stuck again... If you need to upgrade something that's old, That's a contract renewal. DO not sign up for this company. We have been customers since 2013 and can't get out until 2024 now because we missed the writing the cancelation by 12 days. Our contract was to expire this year in November but due to missing the 60 day notice we are now stuck until 2024 and have to have a tech come out because the system is having issues.
