New City Restaurant

No doubt their Hong Kong style baked rice and pasta is invicible. Recently I found that their Spicy Meat noodles are great, too. If you don't mind to wait for 10-20 minutes to get a seat, here is a good choice.Food: 5/5

I've been going to new city for years. The portions are generous and prices are fair. They have a large menu but everything is really good. You can't go wrong with your order, the only problem would be wanting everything. Service is fast and staff is very helpful. We try something new but we our go to order would be the honey garlic chicken wings, toast and varies from the black pepper steak or porkchops. One of my favorite comfort food restaurants

Everyday I'm shuffling! After a 24hr power outage due to a chaotic storm, we were itching for hot comfort food. This led us from one city to another, landing us at New City Restaurant. This HK cafe was packed with diners inside. Always a good sign, and we lucked straight into a 2-person corner spot. A myriad of menu cards flashed across our eyes. I landed on the Garoupa Cutlet on Rice. Prior to the dish, we received the sweet & sour Russian borscht soup, a classic of such cafes. In a pleasant surprise, milk tea arrived in the esteemed KamCha cups. The fried fish cutlets arrived in a thick katsu batter accompanied by a bowl of black pepper sauce. This fulsome meal warmed the soul on the chilly day. The aptly named Bowl of Noodle caught my wife's eyes. Despite the plain description, it included everything from the chef's pantry beef ball, fish ball, squid ball, fish slice, beef tendon & brisket, Chinese sausage, & wontons. The simple rice noodle soup tasted balanced with no complaints. It came with, and the dish was literally, her usual cup of tea. Update: we’ve now also tried the Hot Plate Top Sirloin Steak with black pepper sauce. It’s quite a massive plate with a sizzle and fries, cabbage & carrot underneath. The medium rare was slightly uneven. Baked Steak & Pork Chop w/ Tomato Sauce on top of spaghetti was creamy and came in a huge portion as well. New City Restaurant has old school flair. It was literally the busiest spot among the many food options at New Kennedy Square. Staff buzzed around at a hectic pace as patrons came & went. Fast food came streaming out of the kitchen. Along with an affordable menu, the friendly service is a nice hallmark of here.

OG Hong Kong Cafe place. If you go after 12pm, there is usually a lineup but it does go by quickly. The staff are usually friendly. The food comes pretty quickly. I truly believe that this place deserves more five stars and Google reviews because most of the customers that comes here are older Asians that doesn’t really use technologies. They have been in business for more than 20-25+ years. This HK cafe is as authentic as it gets here in Canada.

2022.11 typical Hk style breakfast. Good milk tea but not hot enough. I had the satay beef spegatti, a bit tasteless. Sandwich is ok. Lot of people, but turn over fast. Good price

We ordered a few Hong Kong style baked rice take out for dinner. Each combo came with one borscht soup and a drink. The rice was fried with eggs and it tasted really good with the tomato sauce. The quality of the food was great and the portion was very reasonable. We came back after they reopened for dine in service. They offered a great lunch menu if you crave for Hong Kong Style food. Most of their lunch combos included a soup and a drink for a very affordable price. The tables were arranged in a good social distance. The food was fresh. They also have a good selection of tea set combos. It also came with complimentary drink. The price was affordable.

Easily one of my favorite HK style restaurants! Their iced lemon tea, deep fried chicken leg and honey garlic chicken wings are my faves! I've been visiting this restaurant for well over two decades. I always get party trays from them when I host parties at my place - their chicken wings are always a hit for my friends. One of the more popular items on their menu is the Sizzling plate sirloin steak! Arguably one of the best you can find in town. Highly recommend New City restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

You have to be from Hong Kong to want to eat in this type of restaurant which in Cantonese is called "cha chaan ting". They are for a quick meal and usually serve Hong Kong style western fairs or simple Chinese foods. When we arrived at New City on a Sunday before 11 am, there were already several parties waiting for tables. We ordered baked pork chop rice in tomato sauce, curry beef with rice and baked beef tongue on spaghettis. None of them was very good and none of the them was truly baked. We probably ordered the wrong dishes as the baked items required time to cook and the restaurant is aiming for speed.
