Very big portions at a very good price. Food tasted excellent. Cold milk tea and lemon tea portions were also very large. Edit 09/24/22: Reduced my original rating because this restaurant tried to cheat us money without us knowing. Ordered the combo for two for $30 but they tried to charge us $33. We brought this discrepancy up to the cashier and asked why the was so expensive, and all they said was that they made a mistake in their calculation. Parking: Lots of parking.
Went to Toronto to visit friends and came to Ming’s restaurant! Friendly and quick service! The portions are on the larger side. Their HK milk tea was on par to the HK cafes in HK and in Vancouver! The baked dish was absolutely delicious and I finished it all in one sitting!! I don’t normally eat pork, but their pork chops were yummy and fresh. My friend ordered the noodles in soup and she said it was super tasty! Wish I had more time in Toronto to come back and try other dishes from their menu. Will definitely recommend to friends when they go to Toronto and I will definitely come back again! P.S. - their AC was so nice.
Decent HK style cafe food. Opens early. Big portions, good flavours. Free newspaper per table while quantities last. Service was good, just one lady was rude and unhappy.
Was there for breakfast. 2 waitresses, 1 was blunt and impolite; the other was somewhat better. Breakfast starts at 7 am. Was there at 7:45 am, congee and fried noodle were not ready! I was holding a teaspoon and the waitress brought the plate and bumped to my hand, then just put on the table. No word, no nothing. Food is so so. Milk tea is average, not the HK style one. Hand sanitizer is placed together with condiments. Kind of scared me.
We ordered from the afternoon tea menu today and we were totally disappointed with our meals. We ordered fish ball rice noodle soup and beef brisket and wonton with Shanghai noodle in soup and they came with a warm drink or cold +$1.00. The soup in both bowls did not have any flavor, we had to add some light soya sauce for more taste. The beef brisket was not tender and the wontons needed some work on perfecting it's taste might have msg in it?... Both bowls we did not finish. We have ordered takeout lunch from here and had no problems with the quality.. maybe just an off day in the kitchen?
There was a long line up next door at Blue Ocean Cafe so I went to Mings yesterday at 10 AM. Pretty sad photo for $8.75 and there was no toast. That is a hot dog and most places offer a sausage for breakfast. I think that is a thin slice of salami which I did not enjoy. Hash Brown tasted like chicken wings because they used old oil. Fresh cantaloupe was acceptable. HK tea was excellent. The restaurant was very clean and the service was OK, but the place was empty. I should have waited 5 minutes in line for very good next door.
Despite the reviews, I actually found this place to be very good! The teppan/ hot plate sirloin with black pepper sauce was really good. Steak was done right as requested medium rare, they serve you a LOT of sauce poured table side and the fries were served on the side which I appreciate. It was very tasty overall and a great value. Soup borscht was really tasty and had meat pieces which were a surprise!, warm dinner bun, fruit salad and a hot drink were included. Cold drinks were a $1 upcharge but it was bigger sized compared to other cha chan tangs. Service was good as well. They did open up a napkin for me to brace the splashing grease from the hot plate which was a surprise and much appreciated! Will definitely come back.
We’ve been here for lunch on Oct 7. The soup is borscht, the most crazy thing is that I ate plastic in it!! Even though the waitress said it’s a vegetable, I hold the firm believe that it is the plastic. Because it taste like a metal!! In fact, plastics will produce a huge amount of micro plastic with high temperature, which means that the whole pot of soup is pollutant by micro plastics. And they still continue to offer the soup from the same pot with customers.
Food is okay: it's what you expect in a hk diner but those fries were amazing. Everything else was eh. I love that it's a traditional hk diner, none of the frilly fancy stuff like expensive Christmas dinners on the menu. It's 3* because it's alright. I recommend it as a goto place where you don't need to dress up but it's not somewhere aesthetic or a place for a date. I got the special combo B $12.99. Love the fries! Wish there were more lol
I regret i did not listen my friend suggestion not to go to this place for Hong Kong style food. But that day, i had appointment in the mall around 3.30 pm all the other Hk style cafe restaruants is full, need to wait for 45 minutes, which way too rush for my appointment so i take the chance and try this place. Owner is very friendly. But honestly speaking, this is the worst Bake Pork Chop i had . It was serve so fast after i order them, wow, this is bake item not already serve food in food court. The Cheese on top was not even melt at all. I was hungry so i eat a couple pieces of pork chop and give up. The pork chop one side with bone, the other side is fat nerve...the sauce are ok.... but there are many take out orders when i was there. so it is up to your own decision to go.
