Got a ring as a gift took it out of the box to try it on. It was too big, so I called ahead to ask if we could return it or get it made smaller they told me that was okay. we also have the three year plan it also states in the three year plan this was an option . Not to mention my boyfriend paid good money for it. We get there ,we talked to the manger bald man . He took it out and told me I couldn’t because it had “scratches” . AGAIN I ONLY TOOK IT OUT OF THE BOX TO TRY IT ON. He told me right away there was nothing at all they could do. Again it was too big, I only tried it on. Nothing else I just got it two days ago . I was obviously upset and he started yelling at me . I had to walk away he was so unprofessional and disrespectful. I couldn’t even get it sent to the jewellers because it doesn’t fall under the “guidelines” of the ring. When they did not mention that, when my boyfriend bought the three year plan for it. The staff is rude , and not worth it. Definitely complaining to a head office . Don’t buy from here 0/10
Wife bought me a ring as a gift, and i didn't like it, so came back to return it 6 days later. They refused to refund cause my wife decided to use her short name when she registered her account and it did not match her credit card and even called security on me because apparently their staff "doesn't feel comfortable", when you are asking for your money back. Ana and another lady even tried to apologize when security arrived. First time in my life, security have been called on me! I haven't been aggressive or threaten anyone, spoke politely!!! This is our last time shopping at Michael Hill! Terrible experience! They are great when you buy stuff, but below the ground when you need to return something!
My boyfriend and I are in the market for gemstone engagement rings. We were not ready to make any purchases that day, but Darren patiently let me try on many different rings, entertained us with his funny anecdotes, and educated us on the properties of various gemstones. He also sized my finger for me so I would know what ring size get. It was an incredibly enjoyable educational experience with 0 pressure and we'd happy shop there when the time comes. Thanks Darren!!
My husband purchased my wedding band from Michael Hill and opted for the lifetime warranty which is SO WORTH IT for anyone considering it! I am always happy to come here for my inspection because whoever is working is always sweet and personable. He also purchased my birthday gifts here back in the fall and said he was very happy with the price of a necklace and earrings, along with the 3-year warranty. He can't remember the name of the very nice woman who helped him, but he said she was a blonde!
This review is dedicated to Darren the store manager. I was looking to replace my silver bracelet for a couple years. Recently I decided to try going to a jewelry store, even though I avoid them due to past experiences of being ripped off. Despite this I decided to take a look around southcenter mall to browse anyway. My dad and I decided to stop at Michael Hill to take a look and I ran into Darren. I had a good feeling about him as he was very understanding of my needs, budget, was fair and honest in helping me find a better silver bracelet than I had before, all within my budget. The only issue I had with it was too long for my wrist. I communicated with him and he refered me to a friend. I was skeptical about trusting a friend, let alone a sales person again from my own personal experience. They're not all bad people he allowed me the option to return the item with the receipt so as long it's within 30 days and brand new in packaging. This made me feel comfortable to give it a shot. The specialist modified my bracelet to fit perfectly on my wrist, and I've been thrilled ever since. I will certainly be back to the store in the future looking for him again
BUYERS BEWARE!!! Very low quality of gold and diamonds being sold here! It breaks so easily! I have sent chain to get fixed multiple times within one year of owning. Scared to wear after 3rd time it broke… don’t want to lose it. They won’t take it back so I’m stuck with a garbage chain I can’t wear. Waste of money… DO NOT BUY HERE!
Found the engagement ring with my fiancee. She absolutely loves it. However I am disappointed that to insure the ring she has to pay to have it appraised. Micheal Hill could not provide any information on any of the diamonds in the ring just total diamond weight. Strange that there would not be a break down on what was put into their own design. Paid over $3000 and now have to pay to have it appraised. Not happy.
I called Michael Hill this morning to check if my engagement ring had returned because it had been almost 3 weeks since I brought it in for resizing. I spoke with a lovely person on the phone who had found it right away for me and I told them I would be in later in the day. When I arrived, a lady asked what I needed and when I showed her my receipt for the resizing, she kept arguing with me that the ring was not there. I told her 3 times, calmly and respectfully I might add, that I had spoken with someone on the phone and they said it had arrive that morning. After finding the ring, she did not apologize for being rude and arguing with me, but asked, "What else do you need?" in a rude tone. I responded by asking if I could look at wedding bands since I was getting married next summer. When I told her the date of my wedding, she replied "Oh you have time" and walked away. I am so disappointed with my experience today.
Got a gift present for my aunt, the lady in the front was calm and sweet. She helped me find matching earrings for a necklace, and turned it into a cute gift set.
By far the worst place and customer service ever! I don't even think they use real gold. made so cheap. NEVER BUY FROM MICHAEL HILL!! I bought a rope chain for my boyfriend last Christmas 2021. He does not wear it everyday, only when we go out as he is in construction. And lets face it we don't go out often at all due to covid.. After 6 months, it broke so I had taken it in to get repaired blah blah, then a few months later the other side had broke... so I took it BACK IN requesting that the person who fixes it goldsmith or whoever CHECKS OVER ENTIRE CHAIN for weak spots. Two breaks in less than a year is bad and I spent over $900 and don't want him to loose it cuz it keeps breaking! Once it comes back from second fix, I am checking over chain tugging lightly around it then BAM!! BREAKS AGAIN!!! RIGHT INFRONT OF SALES LADY!! this was just before Christmas this year they said that they have to send it to check for "Manufacture Defects" in order for me to get my money back said it would be back by mid Jan. Now end of Jan I have not heard anything back. I called to ask about it and was told I would be called back and never got called back. I am so frustrated who treats an already upset customer even worse! DO NOT BUY FROM HERE YOU WILL WASTE YOUR MONEY ON GARBAGE!
