Mary-am Hotel North York

I am amending my review at the hotel's request, and have provided one additional star due to the fact that they did a very complete follow up with me. Due to a business trip located in this area, I booked a suite for ease of morning commute. It is very close to a key area in Toronto. The first room I was given was something I believe recently “renovated” from a closet - to the point that the suite number was written in marker on the door. (Not kidding). This was very small - bed against a wall, the “kitchenette” housed a one-cup coffee maker and no sink. There were a whopping count of two hangers in the closet. When we attempted to make the best of it with mindless television, we discovered the room received zero channels. I've been advised this issue with the television has now been addressed. The front desk staff member was very accommodating and friendly. We were offered another room. The next room was much better - actually what was expected from the photos on the website. There had been some type of housekeeping oversight in that the washroom held only one towel and had no shampoo, conditioner nor lotion. I've been assured that is not standard and additional towels, shampoo and such should have been provided in the room. The sofa in the living area was extremely broken down and while “okay” for a one night stay, was not of the quality anticipated in a hotel that houses “suites”. I've been advised that a new sofa will be in place in the future. If you don't use the furniture in that space, you would be fine. The bed was very comfortable but I don't typically sit in bed for reading or watching television. The location is good, and the hotel staff very friendly.

Location was great. I was visiting Canada so it was very convenient since North York is nearby my business field. Room was neat and clean. The Staff was very friendly. Overall, a happy stay!

Clean environment, friendly staff, but internet was very inconsistent, and the cable experienced constant issues with some channels not displaying properly. Fine stay.

Horrible experience at this hotel! Only good thing was that the A/C worked. Bath and showers had mold in all the corners, shower was about 5 feet from the floor so I had to crouch to get my hair wet. Paint was falling fall the walls. Largest towel size that they offered was about 3 feet long, even after we asked for larger towels. Mini-bar prices were ridiculous (but you get that anywhere). Breakfast seemed like a good deal, but the "egg sandwich" was a reheated frozen egg quesadilla that was still cold in the middle, fruit and yogurt was literally just a yogurt cup, bagel was microwaved so it was dried out. Tim Horton's is a 5 min walk down the street so definitely go there for breakfast. Definitely would not recommend going here. Spend a bit more and get a real hotel, this one felt like a motel with hallways. The front end staff was incredibly unhelpful; we asked for them to call a cab for us to take us to the airport and his face looked like we asked him to take us to the airport.

The worst hotel i have ever seen in my life, the shower head was broken and the bathroom door was broken too everything was dirty and smells so bad, i called four times the front desk to ask them why the internet is not working and they said we don't have a wifi range extender for the upper level, if you want to use the internet you can come downstairs finish your job and go back to your room, and the last thing i have to mention there was a blood on the bed sheet, so i don't recommend this place to anyone
