I have stayed at this hotel probably twice a year for the last 5 years. I mostly chose it for the location. It was always clean, enjoyed the pool..met my needs and expectations...till this weekend. The check in was allright, however, when my husband produced his photo ID health card it was denied...as he was told they needed a photo ID...OHIP cards have pictures. Made no sense. The room itself was on the 16th floor...and it was an awful room. The bathroom does not have a door that you can lock, more like swinging closet doors...which we did not like. The mattress felt like we were sleeping on a box spring...way past its use..I feel for what we paid, we should have received a better room. The pool though reopened is quite cold and seems very shallow. Time to move on to another hotel.......
Very nice hotel, comfortable and quiet rooms, well appointed, and tastefully decorated.nThe standing guest room lights take some exploring to learn how to operate them, and the shower in a lovely bathroom could really use a safety grab bar.nFront desk staff were very polite and helpful, as were the restaurant waiters and the breakfast spread was excellent.
We stayed at the Novotel North York for an event for my son. We had 2 connecting rooms. On check in, all was very efficient, kind and well taken care of. We requested a late check out for one of the rooms, and they made it happen!nnWe had two small issues when there, that were quickly taken care of by the staff. Everybody at the front desk and housekeeping were extremely polite and helpful.nnThe hotel is located near a major subway station and a shopping complex and several restaurants. Its very easy to get around and enter and exit.nnThank you!
Rooms where to hot and couldn't be cooled down. Apparently heat was still on. There was a whole team experiencing the same thing. Bed bugs in rooms, hair on bathroom floor, fridge wouldn't cool down our drinks but put out further heat to room. Chemical smell in lobby that i think was from cleaning product but very over whelming and caused a head ache. Small rooms and beds
I had a pleasant stay at Novotel during the holiday season. The room was clean when I arrived and I found the staff to be quite helpful when I lost my parking pass by accident and when I asked for the room to be cleaned on the next day just little things like, replacing the towels, emptying the garbage etc. It was unfortunate that the swimming pool was closed but seasonal maintenance is understandable. Overall, the hotel was clean, staff was friendly and very accommodating. One area that I wish could have improved was if the staff was more informed of the various restaurants or activities in the area. As a tourist, I asked about the surrounding facilities such as the closing hour of the library in the same building or other family activities that I can partake, but the staff I spoke with had very little input. Also, while the room was clean and comfortable, it was on the slightly smaller size. None-the-less, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone that wish to explore North York.
