Long & McQuade Musical Instruments

Good experience here, friendly and helpful folks without that pushy feel. nnNot a musician myself, I’ve come here for my kids interest in school band. We’ve done both rental and most recently purchase and happy with both experiences.nnStore was much larger than expected, lots of selection and what’s not in stock is easily ordered and notified upon arrival.

I went there mid day on a Wednesday to purchase a couple textbooks for my piano. Waited in line for a good 5-10 minutes after Randy noticed me and recommended me to go in the back to do the purchase while he is helping others. I went to the back of the store when I see the staff just completely ignoring me and then see me only to tell me to go back to the front. This was extremely rude.. Randy saw me again and helped me do the purchase after he was done with the other costumers. Even he was surprised by the other staff’s behaviour. I will definitely call sometime and talk about this with the manager.

Matt just did some work on my 5-string banjo, and he was great. The work was excellent, done in a very timely fashion, and Matt was professional and engaging. Will be bringing other instruments to him in the future. Thanks, Matt!

I can't believe this is the same chain as the other L&M locations. Do the staff get the same training? I've been a Long and McQuade customer for over a decade. I've been here 5 times since moving, and I always regret going in. Now I drive the extra distance to go to the Terminal location.nnThe dudes at the front there are usually 2-3 here in the NV location are cold, literally never said hi or acknowledged my existence, even when I was the only customer in the store. If I HAVE to buy books in a time crunch, I'll force myself to pop by. One time I bought $400+ worth of books here and I left feeling like I was almost.. in their space and not welcome. Have gotten dirty looks several times by one of the guys there. The first time I visited this location, that same guy rang up my items without saying a single word. Maybe he was grumpy, but it seems to be a frequent problem. Everytime I go in, I feel like I'm intruding their white bro hangout space. Ugh. I see quite a few reviews mentioning similar experiences; can someone take action on this? I hope our feedback actually does something.nnI'll steer clear of this one until something changes, and will keep supporting the other L&M locations Vancouver, Surrey, Richmond and Poco all which have been lovely!

I can say with confidence that Long & McQuade is simply the best place for purchasing instruments and audio gear. The staff are super friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to lend a hand. Long & McQuade offer decent financing payment plans and have great sales quite frequently. Next month June 2024, they will be having an event, during which they will be offering 0% interest financing. Events like this happen quite often. They also offer great performance warranties. Long & McQuade is always the first place I consider when buying audio gear, and I've never had any problems during or after the purchasing process. I don't mean to sound corny, but Long & McQuade has quite literally helped me kick start my professional career in the audio industry. Thanks to them and their expert advice, I was able to build my first home studio and start getting off the ground. Thank you Long & McQuade North Vancouver!
