1/5nnWe’ve been visiting this thrift store for decades—it’s always been a nostalgic and much-anticipated stop whenever we’re in North Vancouver. Sadly, today’s experience broke that tradition.nnThe staff’s attitude has noticeably changed for the worse. One male staff member told us not to sit on a chair-like item which we understand was our mistake, but instead of handling it politely, he abruptly placed a basket on it right after we stood up—an unnecessarily rude gesture done right in front of us.nnThe most disappointing part was at the cashier. The woman at the register a heavier-set staff member with a Russian accent was particularly unprofessional. For two items, she suddenly claimed the price tags were incorrect and insisted on higher prices. While we were waiting for a price check, she even told us to hurry up because there were people in line behind us. That was shocking—especially considering we were already being inconvenienced by her re-pricing.nnIf this is the new standard of customer service at Salvation Army, we will not be returning. You’ve just lost an entire family of loyal customers due to this staff member’s dismissive and disrespectful behavior.
Found what I was looking for: some Vancouver merch to bring home as a souvenir. Why buy new is I can give already existing one a second life? Clean store and very nice and friendly staff.
Today, after several years of shopping here, I was very disappointed by the cashier’s behavior. I use a cane and I was with my two children. The cashier was visibly impatient and spoke to me in a rude and aggressive manner, repeatedly telling me to hurry up because there were other customers waiting.nnWhen I finally explained that I only have two hands and that a purchase over $100 naturally takes some time to organize, the cashier responded by smiling in a mocking way.nnI am truly disappointed that there was no understanding or respect for the limitations of people with disabilities. A little empathy and basic courtesy would make a big difference
The prices have become ridiculous. I left many things behind that I would have otherwise purchased but the price deterred me. A kids backpack for 17.00 that has stains or rips... multiple of the same brand all with flaws being sold at thia price. Lulu lemons with flaws etc. These things should be priced accordingly to their condition and not the brand name.nHelly hansen rain coat looks brand new but selling for $50.... I would go to a consignment store that atleast has quality control.
I couldn’t believe the prices here. They’re selling 20-year-old damaged digital cameras for hundreds of dollars — and this is supposed to be a thrift store!nnMy son was interested in getting into photography, so I asked to see one of the cameras. It was priced at $280, and the other three were also around $200 each. None of them came with a box, charger, or cables — and the lenses were scratched.nnThese aren’t collector’s items or refurbished models; they’re used, outdated, and in poor condition. Why are they priced like brand new gear from a camera shop that actually tests and guarantees their products?nnThis completely defeats the purpose of a thrift store. I left disappointed and frustrated.
