Food was ok. The udon was pretty good. The tempura was standard. We asked to substitute the shrimp tempura for more veggie tempura and they were able to do so. As for the sushi, the fish was good but I think they did not use sushi rice. The rice was a bit mushy. When we got the bill, they surprised us with a 20% discount off our meal. Maybe it was because we substituted the shrimp? The location was nice and the service was fast. Overall it was a good experience.
The restaurants pretty nice with the wall paint and everything. Prices are a bit pricer compared to other sushi restaurants however they do offer unique sushi options such as sushi hotdog and sushi tacos. Also ordered the oyster motoyaki and it is completed different compared to the regular ones since the top is cheesy but it was still good.
Their Teriyaki Chicken is the best teriyaki I’ve tried so far! Their Oshi Sushi tastes great too, sushi tastes fresh and everything was made perfectly! The Bbq beef was ok, it wasn’t as tender, but marinate was ver tasty. They also have an all day happy hour, which makes it even better.Food: 5/5
I ordered the chicken katsu on rice. The chicken katsu was fried very nicely; satisfyingly crispy on the outside and the meat was tender. As a bonus I really enjoyed the miso soup that comes as a side — it was very rich and flavourful. A friend ordered the sushi taco and it was also delicious! The service was a pleasant experience as well. Our server Brandon took great care of us as well. The restaurant is clean and has a relaxing vibe to it. Overall recommend if you’re looking for some Japanese cuisine in Richmond!
The pros are the service is good and they have the cutest Japanese tea cups with sushi or Mount Fuji on them. The food presentation is decent. Taste-wise the food was mediocre and different from traditional Japanese flavours. For example, the oyster motoyaki came with melted marble cheese on top which I have never had before and felt the flavours didn’t work as well with the oyster. The tempura was served lukewarm and not crispy on the outside and their choice of carrot for tempura was something I never had before and again not the tastiest in my opinion. The Uni and scallop sushi taco was alright. The chawanmushi was good but not outstanding. The restaurant decor is cute though.
I ordered the Deluxe Teriyaki Set and it was really filling and delicious! The miso soup was really good, not at all watery. The teriyaki chicken had crunchy skin, which I really look for and loved and the chicken itself cooked well, not dry. The veggies under the teriyaki chicken were cooked perfectly. I only wish that the teriyaki sauce was thicker. The gyoza was good and came in its own sauce. The ebi sunomono was nice and refreshing. The tempura wasn't as good as other places but it was nice and crunchy. The dynamite crunch roll was yummy but I was so full that I had to take most of it home. The service was amazing, really attentive and helpful. The atmosphere was also nice, it was quieter because it wasn't busy but everything was on theme; from the cute plates they used to the wall art. It is on the pricier side but well worth it.
The sushi taco is amazing because the nori is extra crispy and the filling is abundant. We got the crab and scallop tacos to share. The hotdog sushi was a one time try and share because it’s huge. It’s too much rice for me but great to try it. The sushi donut is nothing special. Sashimi is very fresh and grilled squid was delicious. We came at a not busy time so got a table right away and service was amazing! I would love to come try the aburis next time.
Loved their food and creative menu. We started off with a miso soup to warm up. Then we got their tacos, mango roll, dragon roll, and assorted sashimi. I think their mango rolls are definitely worth a try! Overall 5/5, probably will start coming here a lot more often!Food: 5/5
For anyone planning to go - please anticipate a longer wait for your food if you are ordering the restaurant’s more unique offerings, like the sushi hotdog, tacos, or pizza. These dishes take a lot of effort to make. It’s a good idea to enjoy a meal here if you aren’t in a rush. The staff here, especially the person working to take orders and serve guests, are clearly invested in providing great food and great service. We ordered the sushi hotdog with no spiciness, which was unfortunately overlooked. When we pointed this out, our server immediately took care of the problem. Despite being so close to closing time, they remade it with no attitude and no complaints. They did not rush us to finish eating even though they had closed and other patrons had left. Just want to say thank you so much for the great food and the wonderful service. Would love to come back.
High CP Japanese Style Food Restaurant in Richmond!!! We ordered two lunch sets and the portion is so impressive! Sashimi is fresh and the beef are fried with vegetables the sauce is Japanese style so it’s a bit sweet. Tempura is crispy enough. There’s nothing I can complain about. Will go again and try more types of food.Food: 5/5
