is a gem for food lovers. This place offers a fantastic selection of unique and authentic Italian and European products, from gourmet cheeses and cured meats to freshly baked bread and pastries. Their deli and café serve delicious meals, perfect for a quick bite or take-home treats. While prices are slightly higher, the quality and authenticity make it well worth it. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with friendly staff who truly know their products. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates great food!
The Italian Centre Shop has been a staple in my life for decades. My dad introduced me to it when we moved here from Montreal, and as a family with Italian roots, it quickly became a regular go-to. No matter how much time has passed, it has always had a selection of imported items that you simply can’t find anywhere else in the city. That still holds true today. What’s even better now is that while you’re paying a premium price for some things, you’re getting premium quality—far better value than most of the other grocery stores in the city.nnThe store has multiple display cases filled with specialty premade items, including their famous Italian sandwich. It’s still a big sandwich and a little more expensive than it used to be, but personally, I prefer to buy all the ingredients and make it myself. I use half the bread and double the fillings, I will even modify the ingredients periodically.nnThe deli counter is what the shop is most famous for, offering meats and cheeses from all over the world. You really can’t go wrong here. There’s also a full bakery, a great selection of fresh produce and herbs, and all kinds of specialty, jams, unique canned and jarred items and I always visit the hot sauces. One of my favorites, Bomba, is featured in two varieties—I like the fine grain for certain dishes, but Italians do love their chunky peppers and oil. Oh, and Pavoncelle-best canned tomato hands down.nnEach of the Edmonton locations has its own personality. The West End store is large and well-stocked, catering to its own loyal crowd. The downtown location is the original, and while it might not be the biggest, it holds a special place for me—I guess I’m a bit of a romantic when it comes to food. The Southside location is great too, though its deli counter doesn’t quite compare to the other two. No matter which location you visit, though, the Italian Centre Shop remains a treasure in Edmonton, and for anyone who loves authentic ingredients and great value, it’s a must-visit. If you forget your shopping bags, be sure to snag a box which seem to always be conveniently available.
There's a vide variety of grosseries with great European choices. It lucks some aspects of style, and it doesn't have as many different products as a bigger Italian center has, but it's great enough. It's a good store if you want organic and European food. It has even Slavic based food, although not all.nIn general, a recommendation from me.
Had a hot chocolate and a turkey croissant. Probably the best hot chocolate in Edmonton. Good flavour all the way to the bottom. Turkey croissant was very good.
The Italian centre is my place to go if I want something from home, especially now with Christmas around the corner. We always get the Sandwiches hot & mild and a tiramisu is a must. Today we had dinner there and ordered pizza the prosciutto was delicious and surprisingly loaded, fresh ingredients and hot. The staff were very friendly
