My absolute favourite place to get my produce! They always have great deals, fresh local produce & the friendliest staff!nnWhen you spend over $30 they will usually offer a gift of some free produce potatoes, strawberries, apples etcnnThey carry locally sourced brands such as Bles yogurt which is to die for as well as many other goodies! Prices are higher but quality is unmatched
Always helpful staff and great prices. I love the Capilano location as they have great produce, plus bread from the Italian bakery, milk, eggs, cheese, tofu and some deli meats like kolbasa! I rarely need to go anywhere else for fresh basic groceries.nTheir selection of fun BlueQ products is great too.
Great H&W. My wife and I have visited a few H&W locations and this is one of the best. The store is clean and well. We were impressed with the ambiance of the store, the lighting was very nice. The quality and selection of the produce was superb. Along with the fruit and vegetables there is a nice selection of curated food products from local producers. There is easy access to the store and lots of parking. The staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely visit again.
The staff are usually great and very helpful. However, at my last visit I did have a negative experience with the supervisor, ReneennI had arrived at the store to pick up 12 boxes of raspberries. I had noticed that because the stock was low and many of the raspberries had mould in them. I asked a staff member if there were more or any extra cases that did not have mould on them for salennThis gentleman graciously checked in the back and found some new raspberry cases, however, when exiting the stockroom, he was stopped by his supervisor, and told that those raspberries were not to be on sale until all of the old raspberries were sold because they were higher qualitynnThe gentleman relayed that information to me where I asked if it was possible for me to open up some of the remaining cases to swap out the mouldy raspberries for other pieces that were not mouldy . I received permission from him and began to do the swap of raspberries.nnAs I am swapping the raspberries on the counter where I had permission to do so the supervisor Renee approaches me and informed me that I’m not allowed to do that. I am only allowed to purchase what is on display and if there are mouldy fruits in the containers, it’s tough luck- I must “ Bring them home to wash them myself”nnI just don’t understand why it is an issue that I am trying to purchase their remaining stock and going through the trouble of doing their work for them and removing the mouldy fruits from the remaining containers. They shouldn’t be selling g moldy fruits to begin with, and not being willing to sell their new stock until the moldy ones have been sold is a questionable business practice.nnNot only did the supervisor refuse my request for non-moldy raspberries from the inventory they had in the rear which I saw the kind gentleman bring out to be subsequently be told to put them back, I was not allowed to do a swap and buy on raspberries that were non-moldy.nnI let the supervisor know that I would pick out the containers I want even with the mould on some of the fruits from the display section and I promptly stopped what I was doing at the counter.nnAs I am checking the remaining boxes on the display area, being careful to check all the sides since I was not allowed to open the boxes, not a minute later from all the way across the store, I was told not to open the containers in front of every customer in the store, by the same supervisor who has evidently been watching my movement in the store since revoking my permission to swap raspberries on the counter.nnI had to let the supervisor know in our earlier conversation that I only checked all 6 sides of the containers from the display and did not open them as she had asked. All publicly in front of all customers in the store.nnIf you’re not going to let your customers buy non moldy fruit, then put out the new ones you have in the back. And if you’re not going to do that, then please stop selling moldy fruits and throw out the inventory currently in the store.nnIn the end I had to buy mouldy fruits, bring them outside of the store, swap the mouldy fruits in the trunk of my car photo included and bring the mouldy ones back to the store for exchange, when it all could have been done on the counter inside where I had permission before the supervisor decided to step-in.nnWhat a waste of time because of a supervisor who could not see reason or make time to help a regular customer.nnThis business has amazing prices and overall great customer service, however I was disappointed in this instance and with the interaction I had with the supervisor.nnThe chastising I got in public from the supervisor was uncalled for. It did feel a little better to have a customer tell me what happened wasn’t right when we were outside of the store, however, I hope no other customers have to go through the same experience as me in the future.
Oh dear, I had a bit of a shock at the grocery store. Can you believe it? I saw a mouse running around in the produce section. It definitely made me feel uneasy about the cleanliness and safety of the store. I told the manager they didn’t seem to care
