Hot Topic

My first visit [on a Thursday] to this location was very pleasant; the staff were polite and came over quickly to help me out. My second visit [on a Saturday] wasn’t as good in the beginning as my first visit but still great. There was a younger girl on the floor and she was busy talking to her friends [they were clearly not customers], eventually I got help from other workers who helped me to get more items since what I was buying was buy 2 get free. Other than that I really enjoy this Hot Topic location, despite there being just SO MUCH stuff crammed into it and to look at. It’s worth snooping around and digging into dishes and boxes of mixed items to find something you didn’t expect. The prices vary but I think about it this way - it beats ordering from the online store [which is in the USA and the shipping is atrocious] or travelling to the USA to buy things. Granted they do not have a lot of Supernatural merchandise that my niece and I desire, there’s quite of bit of odds and ends if you snoop through every nook and cranny. I purchased Supernatural necklaces for my niece and after getting to the car to inspect the chains [one was a black painted metal and the other was maybe a cheap suede or flat leather cord], it snapped which the tiniest tug to free it from the tape and cardboard packaging. This didn’t bother me, I expected it as much. I simply bought my own leather cord from Michaels, watched a video and made a slip knot necklace for the pendants. Though I’m sure someone else would have been livid, but the cord/chain wasn’t of any real quality. It’s not Hot Topics fault but the manufacturers. If you have never been to a Hot topic store before, especially this one in the Upper Canada mall, I suggest going when the mall first opens to avoid the rush since the store is small and so full of product. I have bad [social] anxieties and crowds put me on edge so there is no personal space in this store. But going when kids are in school or in the very early morning hours alleviates my anxieties. You’ll probably get sticker shock when looking at items, remember that it might be cheaper in the US stores but with the exchange rate/shipping, it’s really not worth the hassle. Also, necklace chains/cords are ridiculously small! But if it’s a pendant or something that can be removed, buy it! Just goto Michaels and buy a cheap chain or leather/suede cord to put it on [the leather cord, search for ‘adjustable leather necklace’ in google to get a video or picture/text instructs like I did]. And for pins to make sure they stay in place on my clothes, I went to Michaels and bought a small box of 100 rubber/silicone earring backings. Those suckers are stuck but a really really good pull will get it off [or using your teeth]. The only downside is that there isn’t a lot of Supernatural merchandise but there’s a lot of other things that catch me eye. Happy Shopping!

They should have reservations for items and should call you when the item you want gets shipped to the store. But overall, there service and store is great.
