A bit pricey for the portions you are being served, but the food was excellent. Every dish was tasted fresh and delicious. We were there when they first open for dinner and the restaurant quickly filled up. Reservation is a must if you plan on going there for dinner.Food: 5/5
People were walking in at 9pm, an hour before they close, so that must indicate something good. The servers were courteous and friendly, and takes the time to explain the menu, making alternative suggestions to sold out dishes. At 8pm they ran out of the aji sashimi and the shokado dinner. Their tempura was fried to perfection. Nigiri set featured good selection of fish which all tasted fresh with no foul smell or taste. The rice was very lightly seasoned, some may prefer more vinegar taste. If you order a bottle of sake, they help you top up once in a while which was nice. Overall good place for mid tier sushi at a competitive price. Ample parking too.
Fish are fresh, cooked food is tasty, and the presentation looks great. One of my favorite Japanese restaurant in Richmond. Service is wonderful. Authentic Japanese food made by Japanese chefs.Food: 5/5
Great place in Terra Nova area. Came here cause the place I wanted to go to had a long line up. Different type of food. Decided to come here and luckily we were able to get the last open table. Staff here are super friendly and welcoming. They don’t have any of the more mainstream fancy rolls but they have a good selection of the classics and great sashimi choices. Their lunch menu/ lunch boxes was plenty to chose from with decent prices.
I will say overall is great but maybe I had the unagi from the sister store Takeya so I feel the unagi tastes really similar. It does give the different type of dining experience which I only had in Japan before. This brought the good old memory back which is a plus. The clams are big and juicy. We ordered it cause it is today’s special and they told us it is really huge! They didn’t lie! Both me and my wife enjoyed it. Definitely a try if they have it on special. Price wise yes it is a bit more pricy but what is not pricy these days? I will come back to try more of the items but overall it is not that high end but price is a bit higher. Still worth it to give it a try if you never had it before.
Good value for the quality of food. Unagi don was reminiscent of japan but not not quite there due to lack of exterior crisp. Good enough thou. Sake steam clams were large and juicy.Food: 5/5
We heard from our friends that their unagi is so delicious so we came. It is delicious but I think it’s very pricey we order daily uni and the portion is small and cost $9 … when I don’t know what to order at Japanese restaurant I always try their chirashi don, and this chirashi don is a disappointment to me. But my boyfriend enjoyed his unagi.
Always wanted to try the Unagi Hitsumabushi Gozen from this restaurant and finally made a visit on a weekday. It was a bit confusing at first trying to figure out how to eat hitsumabushi but luckily the restaurant provided us a written guide. The unagi was soft and juicy. There was a right amount of sauce which didn’t overpower the unagi. Beside their unagi set dinner, the restaurant also has early bird special gozen and undon set from 4:45pm to 6pm. My friend got the Chirashi Don & Udon for less than $25. Very good deal. Service was friendly and our cups were filled constantly throughout the night.
Over priced for sure. Will never comeback! My $42 Unagi “Large” combo is so less. When I asked the waiter why my set meal felt so small. She said she already gave me 25 percent of the meat and rice compared to the $26 set meal. I feel like I ordered an expensive kid's meal. When I asked about the bill. I told the waiter to swipe the card. The waiter gave us the bill. Clean up our tables without a credit card machine. We thought she was doing it to provide us with some fruit or dessert. That's not true. They're just wasting our time and making us wait. We want to leave. She's cleaning instead of helping us pay the bills.
This place has very good food, service, and it's clean. I would recommend both BBQ eels and sushi. The BBQ eels are perfectly cooked. Not too oily, dry, or/and bitter like some other places. It's too bad they will no longer open during noon after July 2023.
