Torake

We tried the essential Omakase meal which I felt was very good value for money vs other Japanese restaurants. The seafood tasted very fresh and unique. The dessert was amazing. The pace of the meal was spot on. We really enjoyed our experience here. I recommend bar seating to get the full experience.Food: 5/5

We went there for a date night. Sat at the Bar for our premium Tasting Menu $120. You’ll need to call ahead to reserve and book the tasting. We had a great time!! The food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious and fresh. We appreciated the new spin on traditional Japanese dishes by incorporating light and citrus flavours. Restaurant was clean, service was attentive. Lots of parking.

Super high quality of sushi/ customer service! Also right amount of the sushi! Highly recommend the Premium menu, the wagyu and foie gras were so yummy and juicy resto environment is very comfortable, neat, and clean!! Would def visit again!!

I love each course of the tasting menu especially the uni and aburi sushi.

Not a very good omakase experience, though for a $120 tasting menu you couldn't expect much anyway. However this shouldn't be an omakase in my opinion... the sushi should be prepared one by one however our 6 -7 sushis were served all at once. A few basics: excessive oil on the plate, dish stains, water drops on the spoon and bowl. You should definitely clean and dry them properly before use. The service staff were nice and attentive.

Excellent sushi at a strip mall location. I doubt you could get a meal like this anywhere else outside of a high end restaurant. Not much seating or atmosphere. Get there before the tiktokers take over.Food: 5/5

Most of the reviews are for the previous fried chicken spot which occupied this same location. Omakase at Torake was underwhelming. Amateur quality and cuts but priced at an attractive $88. Tamago was the worst I’ve ever had. Served very cold and came pre cut from a Tupperware box. I’ve had omakase all around Vancouver and this one is a hard “no” for me. Service was okay.
