I had an extremely disappointing stay, to the point where I questioned if this was really a Marriott hotel.nnAfter checking in, I discovered dirty items left behind in the room and no water in room. So I called the front desk, they didn’t understand my request and told me to come downstairs to get it myself. Even after I went downstairs, the dirty items issue wasn’t resolved. Back in my room, I tried to take a shower but found there was no hot water. To avoid waking my friend, I used my phone to contact the front desk. It was incredibly difficult to get through, taking almost 30 minutes just to reach someone. When I finally did, there was no apology or solution provided—they made it seem like I was lying. They said someone would come to check the issue in the early morning, but there was no immediate solution for me to shower without hot water.nnThe next morning, I spoke to the front desk again before heading out. They told me the manager wasn’t available, the only thing I would have to wait. This made me wonder if the staff here received any proper service training. To make matters worse, they later informed me that if I wanted more bottled water, I would have to pay for it. I have stayed at three other Marriott hotels in Toronto, and I have never been treated like this before.nnThe only positive was the location, which is very convenient and close to Scarborough. Also, the housekeeper—a lady wearing a hairnet or headscarf—was very kind and attentive. She noticed there were three of us staying in the room and promptly brought extra towels.
Stay somewhere else! It’s not worth it at all. I thought Marriot was supposed to be a nicer chain of hotels, but I won’t be staying at a Marriot again. The room was not cleaned before I came, dirty glasses in the bathroom and just generally kind of gross. It’s also so loud! I came to stay overnight before writing a very important exam close by and you can hear toilets flushing, every time a door closes, people talking in normal voices the room above. It was also very hard to communicate with the front desk staff about really simple things. Just overall a really weird hotel and not looked after.
It's a wonderful hotel. Keshia at check in was really nice. My boyfriend forgot his wallet at home and she was really friendly and helpful. We still checked in with no problem. The room was clean. The pool was heavenly. We had the pool to ourselves the entire time. Only negative was that the water in the hotel was shut off on Thursday for a couple hours. We didn't get any courtesy calls. However, on our last day right before we checked out, on Friday, a letter was slipped under our door informing us of water shut off for a few hours. We were checking out so it didn't matter to us. The bistro was convenient. For our last night we went for a couple drinks but the night before we had dinner and drinks. The only thing is that they don't accept debit visa. But besides that the food and drinks were delicious. The staff were excellent and extremely friendly. We went to the Peking Duck restaurant that's located right outside. It was a really nice place. You do have to make reservations. However, my boyfriend and I didn't know. We wanted a nice restaurant to celebrate our anniversary so we decided to check it out. Even though we didn't have a reservation we were still seated right away. The food was amazing. The staff were super friendly. We'll absolutely go back. All in all, the entire hotel was quiet and nice. Staff were friendly. Food was delicious. We enjoyed our mini vacation to celebrate our anniversary and we plan to go again.
Stayed here during a recent visit to Toronto with family member in hospital. This location is easy to find right of the 404. The parking lot is good. Lobby and check in good. Easy process. Room rates are competitive as standard. More on weekends. Restaurant on site and few off.nThe rooms are basic and fairly clean. Shower is huge, walk in and a great surprise. Stayed in king room. I do clean rooms as well and I noticed areas where corners had been cut. Like trash under the sofa and supplies not full. We did have a do not disturb sign up at 9am, at 10 am we left, I did tell house keeper we were out and could clean the room. It never happened! Next day room was kind of cleaned. Towels replaced, no 2nd toilet paper, had to ask for more coffee and carpet needed vacuuming which never happened. Would like to see house keeping, care a little more. Could have tipped but not for what we received. We are back on Friday so if things improve, I Will update this. Over all, a decent place to stay. Stayed again few days later and this room was not a good as 1st, king bed is short and feet hang over and house keeper NEVER did clean our room. Very poor house keeping staff! Down grated my 4 star rating to a 2.
I was greeted by James a when I first arrived; he was super kind and welcoming.nThe rooms were very clean and spacious.nThe area was nice with lots of food places to eat at. Within driving distance.nI had a family emergency and had to reduce my 4 nights of stay to 3 nights, booking an emergency flight back. Expedia and the hotel worked together and made it happen for me, and I can’t thank them enough. Both the staff, Belle and Mike were very kind, understanding and had assisted to make things less stressful for me.
