Canis Restaurant

Food was excellent and the wine pairings were impeccable. We did the 8 course menu and the variety of tastes was thoroughly enjoyable. However for the prices the service can be a bit too casual, the food was brought with hard to follow or brisk descriptions and left on the table sometimes a bit bruskly. All servers were nice and friendly when we engaged them, however. Also, for a 2.5 hour sitting the chairs could be more comfortable. I was rather sore by the time I left. So it falls just shy of 5-star for me, but the food is definitely top notch.

We saw this place noted as one of the best new restaurants in Toronto so thought we'd give it a try. I just have to say, these guys know how to do flavor. The broths in the dishes were so concentrated and tasty with great accents like dill and herb oils. Every dish was absolutely amazing. Usually I'm not impressed by desserts but I was here. They were not too sweet and had good balance of flavor and textures. Would definitely recommend 👌

We came here for the 8-course tasting menu and it was brilliant from start to finish! Excellent job on wine pairing and clever ways of using and pairing ingredients made every bite a delight. The flavours of all the dishes here are familiar yet unique. Awesome job on the plating as well. For a restaurant that is ranked #15 in the top 100 Canada's best restaurants (as of 2018), reservation was relatively easy to come by. Having dined at other "top" establishments before, I am surprised Canis did not rank in the top 10, as I can honestly say the flavours here are better. Service was attentive without being over-bearing or pretentious. You can come dine here comfortably in reasonably casual clothing without feeling out of place. My favourite dishes were the dessert, especially the sunflower sorbet with a chocolate wafer on top! Hooked the second I tasted it - so delicious! Highly recommended! This place is good. The food, wine pairing and particularly the desserts are amazing with a lot of flavors. One thing to keep in mid, the restaurant offers two taste menus (small and large) and for what I understood it changes according to the season. Also, it is expensive but worth it. Lastly, the service is very friendly.

The food was very good! The service was excellent and the staff was very friendly. We did the 7 course tasting menu with the duck as the main course. All the dishes were delicious but I especially enjoyed the scallops and the tuna. Dessert was amazing too!
