Alo

Words cannot explain how great this restaurant is. It is an amazing experience that is hard to compare to any other we've been to. This is truly one of the best restaurants in Toronto (if not the very best). I tried countless times to get into Alo, after all these attempts my wife was able to miraculously get us a booking to this restaurant for my birthday, and I am overjoyed we did. From the moment you get into Alo until the second you leave you are whisked away into a dining paradise. It is not just about the food it is the experience. You wouldn't suspect it entering Alo, but once you get upstairs the wonder begins. I wanted to wait a few months before reviewing this one to see if I felt the same way, and the feeling has not subsided. If ever, the time has made me appreciate Alo even more. As we go to other restaurants we leave them with a void, feeling like they have not done enough and inevitably comparing them to our experience at Alo. The service was absolutely tremendous and never were we left for too long without our every needs being met. There was always multiple people there to pick up for each other. Every item we tasted was stupendous and topped what we have tasted in the past. The buttermilk bread was the softest, most delectable I have ever tasted. I particularly enjoyed our protein part of the dinner. The menu is ever evolving and ever changing so what you eat may not be the same as what but I doubt that you would be disappointed once you visit, everything is absolutely sumptuous. The price was quite reasonable for what you get and I would not be surprised if the rates increase given the incomparable quality of this restaurant. We can only compare Toronto to what we have been to and, so far, this is the best experience we have had in Toronto so far! Try your best to visit Alo as soon as possible!

Astonishing fine dine experience. The entrance and elevator doesn't resemble its quality, but as soon as you arrived Alo, is another world. Need to book 2 months ahead for reservation, but is well worth it. The tasting menu was amazing, and took around 2.5 hours to complete. Very nice atmosphere, and can grab a drink at the Alo bar outside as well. Top notch restaurant in Toronto.

Overall, the food was really good. Only one dish really stood out as phenomenal - wishing that you could have more. All the dishes had good contrast of textures, but a couple of dishes lacked contrast in flavours. Definitely a high degree of technique was used to execute the dishes. The restraunt was clean and had a nice simple decor. The service was top notch. The reason for 4 stars was because the hype slightly outpaced the experience.

Impeccable dining experience. A view into a professional kitchen. Excellent all around. Hard to book a table but I guess this is what happens when you want to visit a highly sought after restaurant. Congratulations on being rated number 1 in Canada!

The tasting menu was excellent, and the service top notch. Every course showcased different techniques and there was very little overlap in flavours, textures, or composition. The best decision of the night was definitely going with the wine pairing - you get a different 2 oz pour for every course served! This makes a huge difference when there are 8 courses, all of which vary in flavour. Can't wait to come back and try another menu.
