Chubby's Jamaican Kitchen

This was my second time visiting Chubby's and it did not disappoint! My husband and I were in Toronto celebrating our wedding anniversary. We were eager to visit since our first visit the prior year was amazing It is such a vibe here! And the food. where do I begin, the Oxtail stew delicious as well as the Oxtail entree! I am not a fan of plantains but I thoroughly enjoy them here. Something to do with the sweetness, chewiness and earthiness of the dish, great job marrying the flavor and texture! Jerk chicken, curry chicken and the greens all Will be back!!

This place is a true gem for Jamaican food lovers! From the moment we walked in, the decor and atmosphere made it feel like we had been transported straight to the Caribbean, which was such a treat on a cold day.nnThe food was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious—The bartender was incredibly helpful, guiding us through both the drink and food menu with great recommendations that did not disappoint.nnIf you’re looking for authentic Jamaican flavors, amazing service, and a warm, vibrant vibe, this is the place to go.

This tiny Jamaican spot is a must! Their oxtails stew was amazing with a side of rice my favourite! Also got their jerk chicken with a side of coleslaw, so good! Would recommend. This place does get busy so I would make a reservation in advance.

Chubby's Jamaican Restaurant is simply lovely. The food is great, the atmosphere is great and the staff and so nice. I went yesterday evening.... I got the jerked chicken which was very nice and spicy but my date's burger was a little too pink inside. They got her another one and everything was fine... I'm still giving you guys five stars tho. I would go back any day

Visited on a number of occasions including very recently as part of Winterlicious 2025 due to Chubby’s being one of the most popular restaurants in the city. They are best known for Jamaican and Caribbean cuisine, with all dishes made in their homestyle cooking method in a very cozy atmosphere.nnFor Winterlicious, they offered a selection of their favourites such as Jerk Chicken, Jerk Pork, Oxtail Soup and Saltfish Bites, however their regular menu has many of their other popular favourites such as Oxtail Stew. Their Winterlicious menu was still a great selection given it was many of their popular dishes.nnPopular selections for Winterlicious were the Ackee and Saltfish Bites, either the Jerk Chicken or Jerk Pork and the Carrot Cake. The Jerk Pork was one of the highlights, as it had a mix of fatty and meaty pieces together alongside a spicy Jerk sauce. The Carrot Cake was also a highlight as well, as it complemented the spicy main dish very well and was not overly sweet. Portion sizes for all dishes was good as there wasn’t a need to order extra.nnService was also very friendly and courteous in providing recommendations and checking in on us despite how busy it was on a Friday night.nnOverall, Chubby’s is a recommended spot in the city for Caribbean cuisine and lives up to the many popular recommendations including in the Michelin Guide. Given how popular it is, reservations are recommended especially for popular times.
