Cactus Club Cafe

Same menu as the others on the lower mainland. Service was slow the night we were there, the server was apologetic but otherwise gave us great service, very attentive. Portion size was, like all fine dining places, an issue for some of us, especially when you can count the ravioli on your plate without shuffling them around. It's a different experience than a place where you just come to fill your belly, but still, you do feel like you're paying a lot for not much. Otherwise pretty good. Special occasion place, not really for regular dining.

Great service, great food. We came on a Sunday which has some good deals for drink specials, like $4 longhouse lager. We sat in the lounge and enjoyed very quick and friendly service, the server promptly asked us if we needed refills or anything else, and the food was delicious. The music was not too loud but you could hear it. They have lots of TV's in the lounge to watch sports. Overall I enjoyed the visit and will definitely return.

Cozy patio with fireplace and heaters, large fireplace inside. Great place for appies or meals and excellent, friendly staff. Vegetarian options and nice selection of beers and wines. They also offer drink and meal specials. As always, prompt service, great food and atmosphere!

As a vegetarian, I have gotten used to limited options, but their main menu did not have one vegetarian option. There were a few starter/appys and 2 salads to choose from. They did say they could leave the meat out of a couple of the pastas but it didn't seem like the price would reflect that, and they were pretty pricey. The service was good though. I will not be returning.

I’m disappointed that I’m giving this review as I’m used to having consistently good food at Cactus Club in Nanaimo. My friend and I ordered take out last night and it was “terrible” in my friend’s words. I understand that it was extremely busy last night when I went in to the restaurant to pick up my food, however when we got home and opened up our food there was 1/2 a breast of chicken for our salad as well as next to nothing for toppings so basically a just lettuce salad and next to nothing in our chicken tacos. We won’t be doing a take out order here again. Also the salad dressing didn’t taste right.
