Boxcar Social

Stopped by our hotel for a coffee run one weeknight and ended up staying for over an hour just soaking in the view of the harbour from their patio seating. The server recommended the smoked meat sandwich and honestly it was one of the better bites I've had this trip, still thinking about it. Place had a nice buzz without being too loud, felt like a proper local spot rather than a tourist trap. Coming from out of province I wasn't expecting to find somewhere this good just wandering around, will definitely be back next time I'm in Toronto.

Awesome back patio with plenty of seating and shade. But the staff were the best part of the visit. So kind, friendly and oozing cool vibes out of their non existent pores.nI fear I will become a regular just based off of the atmosphere alone. Special shout-out to the curly haired queen and baddie with the braids.

The cafe had a cozy and warm atmosphere, which I really liked. The coffee was okay, not bad, but not the best I’ve had. Unfortunately, my drip coffee was not hot when it was served and had already gone a bit cold, which took away from the experience. It was also very busy, and the staff seemed quite tired, which may be why they didn’t come across as very friendly. Overall, it was an average experience.

A peaceful little café with a warm atmosphere. The aroma of fresh coffee makes it even better. Perfect place to slow down and enjoy a quiet moment.

They make my favourite espresso in the area; they're very consistent, and do a very light, almost fragrant flat white, delicious both hot and iced.nnHowever, a full star off because the service here is a total hit or miss. Some of the baristas are exceptionally sweet and helpful! But there are a couple who won't even acknowledge your presence even when you're the only one standing in line, and will be strangely dismissive when they do deign to take your order. Doesn't make for a good start to the morning with such weirdly awkward interactions.nnOverall atmosphere does feel very millennial hipster coded, as another review noted, but not entirely in a bad way. Feels very much like stepping into an NYC coffee shop where the coffee is legit, with slightly pretentious vibes, but can't necessarily expect consistently friendly service.
