"We invite you to come in and enjoy our large selection of craft beer, fabulous wines, delicious food, and local musicians in this one of a kind place to dine! Once a bank in the 1800's, and Christmas store in the 90's this building is now home to one of the most beautiful Pubs in the heart of Downtown Victoria. We are Open for breakfast 7 days a week at 7am. Wow, what a unique experience at this beautiful expertly decorated and arranged pub, for comfort, interesting viewing tons to look at and amuse you, and enjoyment. The seating hostess was prompt and accommodating, and the waitress was friendly and welcoming, while the person delivering the food was engaging and helpful. I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but the Bard burger may be the best pub burger I’ve ever had, of all time. Tasty, perfectly cooked and decked out to perfection. Live music at night. This is a must experience when visiting downtown Victoria. $$
This place is STUNNING! The interior is absolutely gorgeous and makes for a beautiful atmosphere. Our bartender was lovely and made great drinks. She was friendly and attentive. We just popped in for some cocktails but we will for sure come back for some food. The menus looked awesome and had a good amount of variety, with lots of stuff I'd love to try. Love the layout of the place with the two-tiered dinning area and their style of booths on the bottom paired with chairs and tables up top. Makes it feel bigger and more inviting at the same time. The booth seats were very comfortable and made you feel like you had your own space. The design of the place is elegant which made it stand out from others in the area. Wouldn't expect it looking at it from the outside so it was a pleasant surprise. Food was also delicious and reasonably priced. Both of our dishes came heavily sauced with the sauce being amazing in both cases. Not sure if sauce is a theme here because they were both sauced-up but that could be a coincidence. Good selection of drinks too, bring a small party to get saucy while eating sauce.
Great place. Live band is good. Food is really good. Nice beer selection on tap, good cocktail menus and unique flights of booze. Short staffed in kitchen today unfortunately o slower but the ambiance is so good that it didn't matter.
Great breakfast options as well as super friendly staff. Really nice atmosphere. Also great place for a pint. 25-30+ beers on tap! Proper British pub, leather bar stools and banquette. Definely a must stop in. 9$ breakfast option Monday to Friday
Brilliant old school pub in Victoria. Service is tight and the pours proper. The food is an eclectic mix of French and British Bar Food. It works and the food is tasty and wholly unexpected in a pub of this nature. Great place to watch sports, or while a way an afternoon on the patio with a pink.
Great spot for drinks and food in Victoria. The cocktails were very good. I ordered a penicillin and it was fantastic! I was really happy to see that on the menu. The scotch selection is reasonably extensive. I would have liked to see a few more Islay Ardbeg's. Overall we really enjoyed ourselves.
Whether or not you make it to Buchart Gardens, don’t miss Bard & Banker when in Victoria. Great pub, good taps, nice selection of Scotch, excellent food and stellar service. Such a beautifully renovated historic building with the menu and staff to match. Whether at the bar attentively tended to by friendly bar tenders or in comfortable leather booths with prompt waitresses, the employees are great. We tried several other pubs in Victoria, once each, but we went back to this one a number of times, including for breakfast and it is by far our favorite in Victoria.
Had a great time at this place a little while ago. We came in on a Saturday evening and enjoyed the mimosa tower, some seafood chowder and some pasta. They had a live band playing and the vibe was great. Worth another visit next time we're in town.
Beautiful pub in middle of downtown, worth a visit. They have live music as well. I love the classic interior of this bar, I hope they keep it that way. Children are not allowed after 9pm and they run a short menu at that time. They have whiskey flights which I recommend! When Ibdrink whiskey, it's usually just one or two different ones. With theur flight, you can really compare and smell/taste the difference. Of course being a pub, their fried stuff was good. We had cauliflower which came with interesting spices
