I LOVE the atmosphere here.. I'm pretty sure this is going to be my go to spot for any dates or any such outings in the future. It's perfectly setup for having a great conversation. The music is subtle but good, the staff are lovely, and the food is excellent. Plus the menu is mostly sourced from ingredients local to the island. One Cool thing about The Drake Eatery: If chess is your thing, then I'd recommend you hit this spot with your favorite set and play buddy. It's not like tournaments happen here or anything like that. I just saw a pair playing when I was there and it just seemed like they were having a really good time.
My first impression was the bar is well put together and atmosphere was awesome for downtown Victoria. I enjoy the somewhat open kitchen concept. You have to come up to the bar to order your food. The food is a hit/miss, the potatoes was a 3/10 very dilly. The Beef Tongue Reuben was a 7.7/10. First time trying beef tongue so it was good. The craft beer I ordered was okay. After you order your food, they don’t really check up on you and ask if you need anything else.
We really enjoyed our lunch at the Drake Eatery. I had the delicious quarter chicken and it was ample for me, and my hubby had the corned beef sandwich which he said was really good. I really loved the cold slaw salad and dip that came with my chicken and my hubby really enjoyed his home made potato chips, they even came warm!!! The cider was good and so was the wine @ $10 a glass very reasonable, considering it’s DT Victoria. The ambience was nice, good tunes and the we loved the Persian rugs, nice touch and made it homey. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We will be back! Thanks for great service, food and drink!!
We've visited The Drake a few times, and it's become a must stop when we head to Victoria. They offer a great selection of local and imported craft beers, as well as really nice snack plates. The service is excellent and the folks that work there are super friendly. A great place to pop in for a drink and a bite!
This is our "Go To" place for drinks, lunch and a friendly vibe. The staff is very helpful and welcoming. We have never been disappointed with any of their offerings whether it be drink or food. There is a portable ramp at the front door which needs to be put in place for wheelchair access but the staff is very helpful. There is a single room, accessible washroom as well.
Chris did an amazing job recommending beers. He educated me on all of them making my experience of drinking them even better! He loved that I spontaneously ordered a pickle. Funny guy and great place to eat and try craft beers.
I sat in the beer garden area. The beer garden has a smaller food and drink menu than the eatery which is located upstairs. Not sure why? They had a gluten free beer option on the upstairs menu but no option for the beer garden. Service was only bar service and it was slow. The food itself was really good. Ordered the fish tacos and roast beef sandwich. Lots of seating in a nice open space.
Just randomly stopped here and went for the Duck Confit. Duck was extremely juicy and flavorful and the salad with it was different but a great flavor selection. Will definitely be going back if I'm around there.
Located in the market square with nice patio and cozy indoor seating options. Indoor is covered with Persian carpet which created a nice vibe. The beer selection is limited specially very limited for local options To order the beer you have to go to the bar and order in person each time
Probably the biggest mistake in my life - giving this place a try on a sunny day based on web reviews. Over priced sandwich $14 and Pinot Noir 8oz $19. Really limited unappetizing menu; very disappointing. The sandwich was worth $9; the glass of wine $8 --- at happy hour! I would not recommend The Drake; pretty sad sort of place not worthy of your dollars. My only sad review. I don't recommend The Drake based on my initial visit. Save your money - there are tons of great places to eat in Victoria; The Drake is not one. Great location, probably the reason for the high prices. Rent and lease prices are high, probably; don't pass them on by selling sad food at inflated prices. My worst dining experience in Victoria since 2013. Highly NOT recommended. One Ugh from me. Location is why it exists, I guess.
