For years we used to visit Fancy Chinese Cuisine for dim sum on Sunday afternoons since they opened, but over time the wait time grew longer and longer. Since COVID I haven’t visited here asides from one takeout trip. I comfortably came for a lunch visit today with my family prepared for a wait time. To our surprise, there was no wait time at all, we got seated right away! The place still looks somewhat the same, with new seafood fish tanks, and the tables are spaced out as usual. Some staff have changed but still see a couple familiar faces which is good. Their food still tastes the same, our biggest favourite here was their tofu dessert which they still have not on the menu so we must assume the kitchen staff have not changed! I’ve always recommended them, and continue to do so.
Delicious Cantonese dim sum food. Here are our favorites: fried squid tentacles is tender and crispy, steamed rice rolls with vegetables and tofu is fresh, deep fried taro is flaky, chicken feet has just the right texture, and fried seafood onion pancakes is tasty not fishy at all. Fried sesame balls with salted yolk is a nice savory dessert to finish the meal. Restaurant is clean, they even have a hot bowl of water so you can rinse the cutlery if you're paranoid. Our visitor from BC loved the dim sum.
Peking Duck was awesome & so was the Chili Pepper Lobster.. service was great and great value. Overall food quality and quantity was excellent. We’re returning guests to this restaurant.. even their Dim Sum quality is great. Keep up the good work
I'm going to Fancy, you might already know. I'm in the fast lane, taking lobster back home! Fancy Chinese Cuisine is a well-known staple of the neighbourhood. It offers a go-to Lobster Combo takeout meal $79.95 among others. This meal consists of 2.5 lb twin lobsters, stirred fried vegetables, steamed free-run chicken and choice of a common dish. Lobster is prepared either w/ ginger & green onion, or in Maggi sauce. Both traditional flavours are equally popular. Cantonese dishes have a way of showcase the ingredients, in this case the naturally sweet succulent seafood. Other dishes aren't that fancy, but this is the star. For this dinner for 4, steamed chicken carries a clean taste, and c/w the green onion salt dip. Stir fried Chinese broccoli gai lan is as simple as that but is still a must. We typically add stir fried beef with king mushroom from an assortment of dishes to round out the meal. Fancy Chinese Cuisine is situated in a busy Markham plaza. Its bright yellow signage easily catches the eye. The spacious restaurant has a ordering booth upfront. You can call ahead. There was even a takeout cash promo, so we had no reason to cook lobster at home!
My go-to place for dim sum. Quality is really good and the price is still very reasonable. There are special prices for non-prime times, and take-out discount. Expect 30min to 1 hour of wait time. You can call ahead and be put on waitlist before you arrive.
We enjoy dimsum and dinner here. Great value - typically great quality5 and decent service 3….freshness of seafood is sometimes hit or miss. Can’t comment on the level of English here as I typically go with my family.
You can find this restaurant in the plaza on 14th and Kennedy Rd. Coming on a weekday around 2pm, we were able to get a seat quickly as the restaurant wasn’t busy at first. However, it appears that seats were filled up after we sat down. The dishes were overall average at best which is why I gave it three stars. We got our egg tarts, bbq pork pastry, and fried taro pastry. Usually they’d be hot when served, however it was cool by the time we got it. The food was cooked, but I suspect it was left to sit there for a while which is why it got cold. This was the biggest turn off. The chicken feet were also too salty, and the har gow was over cooked as the skin was too soft/stuck together. The soup dumplings barely had any soup, and the skin was also thicker than normal - it tasted more like a dumpling tbh. Would I come here again? Only if I have no other choice, or else I’d recommend to save your dim sum cravings for another place. There’s also a cash discount. IG: Ayenomz
Nicely spaced out tables separated with partitions. Specials are posted at the waiting area with daily specials and promotions. We ordered the dinner set with steamed bass fish and 3 more choices for $95.95, and the veggie special. On-choy was quite crunchy but can barely taste the shrimp paste. Other veggie dishes also kept the greens crunchy. Satay beef with Yu-choy was tender and flavourful. Steamed fish was done well and easy to carve. Mustard sauce beef ribs was really tasty with a bit of spice. Daily soup is not complimentary and a couple of dollars. Overall, dishes have good generous portions and quite tasty. Will come back to try out other dishes or for dim sum.
The food is great. Service is friendly. Seating was spacious. Had a lobster set meal. The lobster was really good and I like the beef with mushroom. The fried rice tasted a little fishy but overall it was good.
We travel across town a few times a year just to eat at this place. Larger Chinese restaurant serving family style dinner and dim-sum for lunch, though I have only ate here for dinner. You have to reserve either the 6pm or 8pm seating as they fill up quickly. Food quality is high and portion size is good, demonstrating good value. They have fresh live seafood including lobsters, crab, fish and eel. Dinner combo is a good value where you get to select from a mix of dishes and it includes soup and desert. Accepts credit card. Fairly comfortable dinning environment with average bathroom facility. Recommended.
