Acadia is not a very renown National Park as say Yosemite or Canyon, however it's close to home millions of north Easter folks from NY trip state. It's in a wonderful island which was the summer destination for the rich here in the north east! So they built a magnificent town, Bar Harbor, with cobble stones using the granite from one of the mountains from what is now the Park. We enjoyed the boat trip to see the whales, dolphins, seals, and the little puffins! It took the entire morning and it was with ever penny. The food is amazing... All types of restaurants and small mom and pop shops in Bar Harbor, of course the very renown lobster. Hiking in the afternoon at the Park was incredible. I love the outdoors but not hike much so it was hard going up the mountain in one of them vertical climb on steel rungs. We met a couple who go often so it was a blessing as it was getting dark soon. A beautiful pond at the bottom of it, gorgeous! It's a great destination for anyone in the north east who loves the outdoors! We saw many with the bikes in the racks... It would've been awesome biking in the park.

My favorite National Park! The carriage roads are some of the best, easily get to the hiking trails with a mountain bike. Shuttle service one the summer is very convenient.

Acacia is beautiful and there are so many trails and places to see. Just make sure you get to the main spots like Cadillac Mountain (especially during sunrise) and Jordan Pond on a nice clear day. There is a shuttle service, which you may want to consider when it's very busy as parking around the park is limited.

Went during the second weekend in October and caught peak colors and great weather. It was amazing but also incredibly busy. Plan accordingly. Consider using shuttles for transportation (I believe they are free) as parking can be limited in lots once farther in the park. Also be sure to book lodging in advance as it really fills up for miles and miles in every direction.
