Definitely great place when you’re in need of medical help. My friend got badly chalazion on his left eyelid, for the past two weeks he tried to make appointments with ophthalmologist in Victoria, but no available space for him, the nearest date is months away. He can’t see clearly, blurry vision…nSo he held the last hope to try the Westshore emergency with me as his translator. The receptionist is very kind, helpful and empathetic. She managed to help him with a chance to see an available doctor, Dr Wong, given his serious condition. Then within half an hour, he got eyesight checked, little surgery to remove the pus out of his swelling eyelid, and good to go!!!nThe whole thing is like a miracle to us! Maybe it’s just our fortunate to get there the right time, but the stuff, doctors there are really caring!nThank you so much Westshore emergency!
Horrible. I called and the receptionist was extremely rude to the point. I told her she didn’t have to talk to me that way and then I asked her her name and she hung up on me. Maybe she didn’t realize that the System is set up so that if I call back, it puts me straight back through back into the place in line I was. She was nicer on the phone when she picked up and I told her I just called and I was asking her another question basically asking if there was any options in Victoria. But I do think the people in charge of hiring need to really take into account. The word care that is in the name of this clinic. Because it is extremely rude to have people with medical ailments that are calling you guys only for you guys to hang up on them after being extremely rude. I also buy fluke had this entire phone call recorded because I’m trying to get access to a sick note for my employer after being sent to the BC doctors generic sick note online that my employer is denying even though I have had an ongoing medical issue for a while and it’s none of my employers business, but they are refusing to pay me out sick pay adequately. I would expect more from a clinic, especially when they know about the medical crisis that’s happening here in Canada. To treat people calling in this way is absolutely disgusting and it does not help the situation whatsoever and if anybody is acting that way in a position of caring for other Canadians, they should be immediately fired because it’s wrong. And if you can’t be a nice person and cordial on the phone in a nice way, you should not be in the medical industry whatsoever even if it’s just a receptionist.
Recently relocated here from the BC Interior. I arrived at the clinic and was informed I needed to book an appointment in advance and to call exactly at 8am the day of. As I urgently need to see a doctor but it’s not necessarily an emergency per my call with the BC Nurses line I obliged. I called at 8am on the dot the day of, got through the options by 8:02am to get on the line and I was #37 in the queue. I waited on the line for 37 minutes before speaking to a person, I was open to a doctor or nurse, whoever could help me… neither were available from 8am-8pm that day. “Inferior health” ain’t got nothing on Island health. Please reassess the capacity of this clinic and hire an appropriate number of doctors and nurse practitioners to support the capacity of patients in this region.
Came in, one recent morning, with a badly bruised hand, Received concerned and intelligent attention from staff. X-ray almost immediately, then returned for a scheduled appointment a few hours later. Saw a terrific and personable doctor not soon after who, happily, told me no bones were broken.nnThis was my first 'walk-in' experience. Compared to the understandable chaos of hospital emergency or to a multi-day if lucky appointment opportunity at my family doctor's these people are busy and stretched, I am happy to give the highest marks and thanks to the West Shore team.
The BC Health is terrible, trash customer service , seems no one's wa to to be a doctor or lack of . I came in at 8 am not knowing you have to book appointment ahead of time my fault for not looking it up ahead of time , my wife recently gave birth a newborn a day before and my 3 year son woke up with a sore throat and cough and his chest and throat hurts , wanted to get him in without going to the hospital and wait God knows how long of a wait , don't want to risk my newborn baby getting sick or worse. They couldn't see me cause there was 50 people thay called in. It would literally take less than 30mins to be in and out . But nope . I understand pretty much every walk in clinic and hospital are lacking doctors which is a shame . The BC government of Health should really spend more time on getting more doctors.
