A 13-year-old daughter went to Emergency yesterday with complaints of a constant cough and shortness of breath. We were received and given a bracelet, we sat in the common reception room with the child for 111 hours.nOur child constantly coughed, complained of lack of air and was very restless, crying. There was a man on a gurney nearby who was constantly moaning and called the staff. He complained that he was dying.nOur child was also worried about this patient and why he was not called a doctor.nAfter 7 hours of waiting in a cramped room filled with patients with various diseases, we turned to the registration wall. We said that the child is not feeling well, is coughing, breathing hard, and needs a doctor.nOnly then we were sent for an X-ray. It seems that my child was completely forgotten and remembered only later. After the X-ray, we sat again for another 4 hours.nThe result of the X-ray showed pneumonia, but we got to the doctor only 4 hours later. In total, we waited 11 hours.nI would like to note that there were no other children in the waiting room at all, and if they appeared earlier, the parents with other children waited no more than 2-4 hours for an appointment with the doctor. Apparently, our child is very special, that's why the attitude towards her was special - standing in a general queue for 11-12 hours.nThe doctor who was at the reception was attentive, tolerant and professional. They prescribed an antibiotic, prescribed to drink it for 5 days. If there is no improvement, contact the hospital again. The child is in a state of shock after yesterday's waiting, she thought she was suffocating from constant coughing and very hot air in the room where there are many sick people.nI can't even imagine how we will be able to survive this again - a long, inexplicable wait in an uncomfortably cramped room with many sick people. I wish everyone not to get sick and be sympathetic to children.
Pretty much useless group of staff. Dr Alex toffeecock went to school for 10 years to be good at assuming. Waiting ten hours to get a stethoscope is a complete joke. Lazy nurses just gossiping and not doing any work. Claire was a nice nurse. Only one though.nnWould never go here in a real emergency. Better off flying to Vancouver
Dreadfully understaffed. Dirty and unhygienic. People herded together like cattle. No respect for social distancing. Four hours waiting in a stuffy crowded room with goodness know what viruses floating around. A disgrace! The provincial government should be ashamed of their total indifference to the plight of the sick and the poor
honestly, best hospital experience of my life. Nurse Brian, and Dr. Lam were incredible. Dr. Lam was great, listening to my history and being very thorough with asking questions and answering questions. Nurse Brian was great, relieving some anxiety surrounding needles and cracking jokes whilst doing so. i appreciate the speed with which i was dealt with, and the care i received was top notch. thank you.
Worst experience I have ever had aside from the staff in imaging. Young punk doctor that would listen to nothing about my history. Young nurse that had absolutely no bedside manner and obviously paid no attention to my chart. She removed the intravenous line without checking for bleeding I am on blood thinner so by the time I reach home the sleeve on my coat was saturated with my own blood and was still bleeding. I added an ice pack and compress till it stopped.nYou could not pay me to ever use this hospital again.
