University Place Hotel & Conference Center

There are many nearby places to eat nearby and I assume it's popular for the nearby school. The warm cookie on checking in is delicious and the staff are helpful when you ask. The breakfast buffet is impressive! Hot eggs and bacon and sausages and potatoes, a bunch of other options including a do it yourself waffle maker with instructions! The rooms themselves are why my score is a bit lower. If you are staying with someone else and you both have many electronics, there are not many outlets. You might need to move furniture or have/ask for a power strip to accommodate your needs. The TV options aren't great. The toilets as of the writing of this review are slow to flush and prone to clogging, but as I said the staff is helpful and helped us with our overflowing toilet asap! The streets around the location are confusing if you drive or rent a car, many one way streets and forks and merges. But there is public transportation just outside the parking lot so depending on your mode of transportation can be awkward or convenient.

You get what pay for..as well though I'd say this is the perfect location, it's not too far from anything and so long as you don't mind a little walking there is plenty of stuff around the corner to see and do. Also breakfast was better than expected! Oh and staff was friendly and helpful.

Things started off great when arriving to check in as I was handed a chocolate chip cookie. The room was nice and clean and the bed was firm. The location was perfect for walking all around downtown Portland and not requiring a car to get around. The AC also worked great as the room was nice and cold and comfortable to sleep in. Staff is also great, highly recommended!

The staff are friendly, and the location is great. We've stayed there before, mostly because it's inexpensive. This time we were told we had been upgraded to a better room. This seemed nice, but there were a coupe annoying problems. The Wi-Fi was very spotty unless you were close to the front door of the room. This was an issue for us as we rely on it instead of using our roaming data while travelling. The drain in the shower was very slow. We asked about it, and all they did was send a fellow to look at it, then do nothing. There was no follow up. In the plus side, the cookies they give out when you check in are fabulous. The breakfast is plentiful and well done. Fantastic fresh waffles.

The University Place Hotel is a good place for the money. The staff is efficient and the cookies are delicious. The rooms have everything you need microwave, coffee maker, and a small refrigerator. It offers a discount if you use OHSU and is very close to the hospital and the University. I stayed here twice before and I'll probably stay again.
