Ordered a series of platters from Tsukiji Toronto over the weekend. Had to stand and wait at their store for an extra 30 minutes while watching other customers come and collect their orders. What's the point of confirming a time for pickup if that isn't the case? Sushi was fine but not stellar and there was noticeable condensation and moisture in each platter. For the same quantity, I could have ordered from other sushi restaurants for higher quality, more affordable cost, and faster service. This is a popular sushi spot in the area and it's not our first time ordering. Hopefully it was an isolated incident and better the next time we order.
Ordered 80pc sushi-sashimi-roll platter. Order was completed quickly - less than one hour. They old take cash and debit. The fish was not cold enough and the rolls included canned tuna . The soy sauce and wasabi was also very very mild/light almost bland.
Stumbled upon this place and ended up coming for takeout sashimi twice in one weekend. Prices are fair and fish is fresh lots of options for sashimi by weight. Scallops were delicious! Appreciated the nice presentation. Unadon roasted eel rice was tasty. Manager/owner is friendly as well. Cash and debit only.
their sashimi are really fresh and reasonably priced my sashimi go to place. Their maki might look pricier but their salmon / unagi are really huge pieces that justifies the price but make sure you call to order in advance as busy hours have a queue
Got some sashimi from Tsukuji Toronto. We got uni, scallops, salmon, ebi, ikura and many more. The uni are the best so fresh and sweet. Their scallops so juicy. They also sell sushi nigiri, maki and sashimi party tray! The owner really nice and the service is really fast. You can call in and order.
Be warned not to order online!! I made the mistake thinking ordering online would be the same as calling only to learn that you end up paying waaay more online. I ordeed the 60 piece platter A2 and paid $87 just shy of $100 after tax. The menu shows $56 and confirmed by the restaurant that its cheaper to call as the web is via door dash or another one of these food order/delivery companies so that extra $30 essentially goes to them not the restaurant...what a scam!! I don't blame the restaurant entirely but the web ordering aspect via Google should be transparent. I would have called my order in otherwise. The food quality itself is on par with many of the other local Markham establishments selling similar fare...nothing out of the ordinary.
Ordered the 60pc sashimi and sushi platter - they easily accommodated I called at 4pm and they had it ready for me by 5pm. Only take cash or debit. The sashimi waa very fresh and didnt have a fishy taste to it. The rolls were also good though on the small side my 1 year old easily ate 4 pcs and my 3 year old had 8.5 pcs on his own. Would order from here again
Sashimi and the sushi are fresh and presentable. Please feel free to follow me on IG Mandilicous, tiktok and fb missmandilicous for food and lifestyle posts
Should give this store credit where it’s due. This is the same location as what was formerly Check-In Tokyo but people seem to continue to post reviews under the old name. This is the third time we’ve ordered from them since they reopened during the pandemic. Fish is fresh and rolls are creative. They give you sashimi other than the typical salmon, red tuna and red snapper. I’ve been happy with their consistency and quality. They also sell uni by the tray but the price has gone up a lot. Call ahead to pre-order.
I'd give this a 4 star based on freshness and value! This is probably going to be one of my take out go to's now in Markham. It's located inside New Kennedy Square along the back row of the shops. They mainly do take out with a handful of bar seats. Got two of their donburis and were both flavourful! The one without uni in my photos is $18 and the one with uni is $24. The scallops actually had taste, they were sweet compared to a lot of other low to mid end joints where their scallops are mostly tasteless. Their rice was also decent! Would definitely recommend and will be back to try their sushi and sashimi trays!
