Great spot for delicious Japanese food. They have a great setup outside. Although I would have liked more comfortable chairs and tables, but the food and service definitely made up for that. The oysters were fresh and from the East Coast. Sushi was delicious and the presentation was so pretty. I’m not a huge fan of Ramen, but the Seafood Ramen was really good. The stock was not overly salty and the portion was generous. A definite must try if you’re walking around the strip in Unionville! Our server was also AMAZING!!! He was very efficient and kept checking on us. Two thumbs up!
Ramen was good. The ramen with truffle and pork belly had great flavour. It's great if you want to be adventurous and want some truffle. I ordered spicy salmon rolls and it was pretty bad. It had a weird flavour that was hard to describe and stale tempura bits. My husband and I didn't finish it. The tako wasabi was very good.
We came here to eat lunch on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy. We sat outside for our meal. Even though we were outside, the staff was attentive and made sure we were taken care of. We ordered the premium sashimi don and soft shell crab burger with wedges. The don was presented very nicely, and came with uni, toro, Shima Aji, maguro, ebi and salmon. The don was good but the portion is on the small side it was not enough for my husband. The soft shell crab burger was good, but the cheese bun that it came with seemed to overpower the taste of the crab. Overall, the burger was good and came with lettuce, tomatoes, mango, onions and a spicy sauce. The wedges that came with the burger were very delicious! They were crispy and flavorful and was actually my favorite item of the meal but I'm biased because I love fries. I also had a piece of Shima Aji nigiri and Blue fin tuna nigiri. The Shima Aji nigiri was only okay, but the blue fun tuna nigiri was very good. My husband was disappointed that the restaurant did not have a liquor license. Overall, we had a great experience and would come back to try more of their menu!
Premium Sashimi Don Don • 12 Pcs Aburi Nigiri Had a great lunch at Tsuyoi Sushi to celebrate a special occasion. The food was fresh and tasty! The presentation looked amazing. I wish the portions were bigger tho. LOL As the price is a bit steep.
Main St Markham Parking Lot Non-LLBO Yet 10% Cash Discount Lunch Special Sushi Sashimi Ramen Oysters Ice Cream We came here on a Monday evening during covid. Their patio was open but I was indoor. Upon arrival the hostess/server acknowledged us but both of them took a while to seat us. The menu was very simple and did not have many combo options for dinner. We were given water but I actually wanted tea. I also saw that there were sake bottles near the window but they said they do not have the license yet. There were only 2 servers and 2 sushi chefs but the service did feel a bit on the slow side. We ordered a few items to try: Grilled Cheesy Oysters - they were good and very creamy lots of cheese Chopped Bluefin Tuna Maki - that was pretty good. Quality is there. Crunch Roll - was pretty special too, generous ingredients Assorted Sashimi Cold Don Don - basically chirashi. There was only one piece of each item. It was decent with some black Tobiko as well as ikura but definitely not to be share. On the menu It's supposed to come with a miso soup. 20 Pieces of Mixed Sashimi non premium - for that price I feel like it was kind of not that worth it. Great quality but it seems a bit too expensive for what I am getting. Ikura sashimi - 3 pcs of oyster shell full of ikura on a shiso leaf. Not bad! Black sesame ice cream - Decent but I've had ones with stronger taste. Texture is good. Overall I would give it a 3.75 star. Server was kind. Definitely room for improvement but not bad. Would return next time.
Decent Japanese restaurant on Unionville Main street. Will try other stuffs next time. We only have 2 Ramen and minced Toro rolls. Food 8/10 Service 10/10 Cleanliness 10/10
This isn't a cheap AYCE sushi joint. Tsuyoi has a very tasty menu and a variety of interesting menu items. On the pricey side. Lots of parking at the back. Small back patio.
Came here after seeing their IG marketing but was very disappointed with my food. I ordered on Fantuan with a promo which made the price more acceptable for the quality. I got the sushi maki combo which came with a side which I chose the vegetable tempura. I also got a tako wasabi. First, the sushi rice was bad—very sour from an unbalanced vinegar blend, and the rice texture was mushy and overly dense you can see in the photo how the rice mushed together. The rice was so bad it rest ruined the fish on top. The Maki roll was okay but had too much mayo on top. The tako wasabi was overly salty and didn't have much wasabi at all. The portion is also very small, I'd say about 1 tablespoon of tako wasa, and the seaweed was already soft and chewy when I ate the food right away. Also, I saw the pre-packaged tako wasa in their fridge so it's not made in house. For a higher end spot, if they don't make this in house, hopefully they will at least source a better quality pre-made product. The only good thing I had was the tempura.
My family and I have been here twice now and tsuyoi never misses. We've had every type of dish on the menu ramen, sushi, maki, rice/poke and everything is always AMAZING! Their fish is so fresh and the sauce they use with their sushi dishes really brings out its flavour--and it's a flavour I haven't tasted at any sushi place in Markham that is a must-try. The salmon mango poke was also delicious, very fresh and light. Our waiter told us that they special sourced their ramen noodles to get the right texture. Their pork belly cuts in the ramen are THICK, so you're definitely getting your money's worth. I think this is the best ramen in Markham. Our server also treated all five of us to miso soup even though only a few of our dishes gave us a side of miso
It's hard to see honest business get burnt from the impact of COVID. It's even hardier for me to review this restaurant when they hit the mark for some dishes but miss on other dishes. I'll make it short and simple I like their ramen.
